Stat Priority
The Stat priority on Xavian is as follows:
- Strength
- Haste
- Expertise = Crit
- Spirit
Item level is king in Fellowship as main stat has the greatest effect on your damage and survivability.
Spirit provides you refunds on mana spending abilities. You want as little of this as possible since you get all the Spirit you need from Talents.
Haste reduces the length of all our cooldowns, our gcd, and has beneficial feedback with certain talents. It allows you to press more buttons more often, generating more Brilliant Flashes, for more damage, healing and damage reduction. It's easily the best stat on Xavian.
Critical Strike can be very valuable on Xavian depending on your build. Ideally you want around 20% of this stat after you achieve desirable Haste and Expertise. Critical Strikes also have the additional effect of doubling the effectiveness of your shields. This buffs both your healing and damage, and feeds into Invictus if talented, so it’s an all around solid stat for Xavian.
Expertise increases your damage, healing and absorption effects. Most notably, Solar Shield. Having stronger Solar Shield increases our effectiveness by a large amount.
Weapon Traits
Due to the random nature of Weapon Traits, it can be a game of cat and mouse trying to get the ideal weapon tree. You have two offensive rows, two defensive rows, and a master capstone, with multiple options in each row for different pathing up the tree. With that in mind, you can start to see how gaining access to a “BiS” set-up can prove tricky. Don’t be afraid to use some materials to reroll Traits if you need to.
Below I’ll separate and list the ideal weapon traits for each type.
Master Traits

Emerald Judgement is one of 3 Master Traits that, depending on your gem set-up, can be considered the best. When utilizing the 6th Green node, Emerald Judgement provides a massive damage boost over the course of a dungeon, as well as a large amount of additional AoE CC. Either this or Martial Initiative are the best general set-ups. Martial Initiative has the benefit of being potent regardless of your set-up. It’s easily the best option early on when you don’t have the gems to optimise for the other 2 traits mentioned here. Lastly, Diamond Strike is a niche but extremely powerful Master Trait. In combination with Kindling Gems, you have the ability to deal massive amounts of single target damage due to its feedback loop and synergy with the fact you both heal and do damage a lot. It’s less overall damage and survivability than the others, but it’s still S tier worthy.
Heroic Traits

Inspired Allegiance grants some Haste to yourself and allies but more importantly it reduces the cooldown of your weapon ability with each proc. Kindling is a very strong single target dps increase baseline and in combination with the Diamond Strike Master Trait it’s very potent.
Defensive Traits

In the new season they’ve removed Treasure Hunter's Delight to allow for more freedom with Defensive weapon traits, however, due to the introduction of Ancestral Intervention, that same freedom has gone away. In any meaningful content, the consistency and safety net from the cheat death effect that Ancestral Intervention provides is invaluable and a must have. After that it’s mostly a case of personal preference or choosing what fits for specific scenarios.
Gems & Gem Builds
The Gem system in Fellowship is fairly unique. You can obtain powerful gems to attach to sockets in your gear, which gives you Gem Power that enables different Gem Bonuses. There are multiple Gem sizes that provide you with more Gem Power. You can combine 3 of the same gem type and size using Gem Fusion (Master Craftsman Braggi NPC) to create a gem of the next size up.
It’s worth noting that some socketed gear can additionally drop with a 35% gem power increase (100% for a Legendary). This makes it so you’ll want to prioritize socketing higher quality gems into these items. For example, Legendaries come with a 100% increased gem power socket, making it ideal for your larger gems.
Gem Types & Bonuses
The Gem types each follow a pattern of the type of bonus they provide, a simplification of the Gems is shown in the table below.
| Gem Type | Gem Bonus |
| Ruby | Main Stat / Boss Combat Buffs |
| Amethyst | Critical Strike |
| Topaz | Haste |
| Emerald | Expertise |
| Sapphire | Stats during Ultimate Ability |
| Diamond | All Secondary Stats |
Xavian Gem Priority
When working with Tier 1 gems, I would prioritize the following:
Topaz > Emerald > Ruby > Diamond > Sapphire > Amethyst
Haste is extremely strong for Xavian as it naturally allows you more casts of everything, which in turn is more damage, healing and damage reduction. As a result we want to be gemming as much of it as possible. That being said, depending on whether or not you’re running the Emerald Judgement weapon trait, you might want to set your eyes on rushing the First Strike - II node for more potency. Another noteworthy pickup is Harmonious Soul from Diamond, especially if you’re running Diamond Strike.
The full BIS setup in my opinion uses no set bonuses and then 35% sockets in every other piece of gear, going 10 Topaz, 9 Emerald, assuming you’re playing Emerald Judgement or Martial Initiative Weapon traits.
You can use Method's Gem Calculator to play around with different configurations and create your own.
