Relics

The relics in Fellowship are almost entirely utility focused and they are therefore very situational, although there are some that are much more generally useful than others

Universally Useful Relics:

Sinbinding Stone - Grants 15% damage reduction to yourself and nearby allies for 15 seconds on a 3 minute cooldown. This Relic is extremely powerful, particularly on some of the harder bosses in the game.

Generally Useful Relics:

Grimoire Of Resurrection - A simple combat ress. It has a small cast time with a 5 minute cooldown. Great if your party lacks the ability to ress.

Ancient Wardstone - Instantly dispel all harmful magic effects from yourself and allies on a 2 minute cooldown. This can be extremely good in some dungeons depending on how you’re pulling.

Ancient Poultry Fetish - Turns your target into a chicken. Permanently. This cannot be used on Bosses but there are pulls in dungeons where utilizing this Relic makes life so much easier. It has shared uses by the party on a 3 minute cooldown, so its value lessens with multiple users in the same party, alongside the fact there are generally better relics on offer.

Orb Of Shadows - Party wide invisibility for 15 seconds on a 6 minute cooldown. Very good relic that let's your party skip large portions of a dungeon, carries a bit of risk until you light a campfire, as it has a large cooldown.

Humming Portalstone - Opens an interactable portal. You can only have 1 of these active at any time and there is a 20 second cooldown on how often you can take the portal. It has a 2 minute cooldown. This relic let's you skip difficult packs in different dungeons and let's you route more aggressively, which is very useful situationally.

Saltwash Elixir - Restores 40% of maximum health on a 2 minute cooldown. Good if nothing else seems appealing, or you don't trust your healer.

Best Mara Weapons

Mara actually has a couple of really good options when it comes to weapons. The Best in Slot (BiS) Weapon for Mara is the Fateful Dagger, with Sahril's Reckoning being a good alternative.

Fateful Dagger - This is your best weapon in most situations. The cooldown recovery increase it provides makes Mara feel so much more fluid and engaging to play, while providing the best output increase in most situations.

Sahril's Reckoning - This weapon is very potent situationally. The Crit chance it provides in combination with Matriarch Macabre on a big AoE pull leads to insane damage. This weapon is really good in dungeons where the boss(es) let you hit multiple enemies with it.

Weapon Traits

Due to the random nature of Weapon Traits, it can be a game of cat and mouse trying to get the ideal weapon tree. You have two offensive rows, two defensive rows, and a major capstone, with multiple options in each row for different pathing up the tree. With that in mind, you can start to see how gaining access to a "BiS" set-up might prove tricky. Don't be afraid to use some materials to reroll Traits if you need to.

Below I'll separate and list the ideal weapon traits for each type.

Major Capstone:

  • S tier = Visions of Grandeur
  • A tier = Brave Machinations, Amethyst Splinter, Sapphire Aurastone
  • B tier = Martial Initiative

Offensive Traits:

  • S tier = Inspired Allegiance (on a Fateful Dagger only), Seized Opportunity
  • A tier = Hidden Power, Vengeful Soul
  • B tier = Navigator’s Intuition
  • C tier = Patient Soul, Willful Momentum, Hunter's Focus

Defensive Traits:

  • S tier = King of the Hill,
  • A tier = Heart of Stone, Treasure Hunter's Delight, First Man Standing
  • B tier = Divine Mediation, Stalwart Readiness, Latent Resurgence
  • C tier = Grounded Spirit

Set Bonuses

Set bonuses have the capacity to be extremely powerful. Different dungeons drop different sets allowing you to farm your best in slot bonuses. On a character with 92 (current cap) gems Ideally you’ll only want 2 of your gear pieces to be set items and the rest to be socketed items, because of how gem power works. This allows us to retain access to a set bonus while reaching a good break-point of gem power. Below I’ve listed the two most important set bonuses you’ll want to acquire for Mara.

Draconic might: This gives you a chance on crit to get a buff for an 18% increase to agility for 15 seconds, it has a ppm of 0.9 that scales with crit chance, meaning with more sheet crit you will get more procs. You will want to wear this set most of the time.

Drakheim's Absolution: This is a simple 20% increase to agility during the duration of your Matriarch Macabre, allowing you to deal even more damage during it. You will want to wear this set if you need extra burst during your ultimate.

Legendary

On Mara you have access to 3 Legendaries, Treads Of Vexira's Prey is a step above Stalker's Crimson Chain, both of which are far above Shadow-Lined Cape Of The Sinful

Treads Of Vexira's Prey - This Legendary makes your Queen's Fang and Arachnid Assault crits apply a debuff to targets, dealing 40% of the initial damage over 6 seconds. This deals significant damage and increases your resource generation through the Venomous Delight talent.

Stalker's Crimson Chain - This legendary gives you a 32% increased expertise buff for 8 seconds upon getting a spirit proc. Turns spirit into a valuable stat for us.

Shadow-Lined Cape Of The Sinful - This legendary makes your finishers reduce the cooldown of Final Stratagem by 0.5 seconds per combo point spent. This one is not great numerically at the moment.

Stats

Item level is king in Fellowship as main stat has the greatest effect on your damage.

Critical Strike has the chance to double the damage of your abilities. It also has the ability to generate additional combo points with Mara's builders.

Expertise is a simple stat. It increases all our damage, healing and absorption effects.

Haste increases our attack speed and the tick rate of our DoTs. Not a very good stat for Mara generally

Spirit is generally a weak stat for Mara. It increases the rate of your ultimate of which your ultimate charges, and gives you a chance to refund combo points and energy when using finishers. The chance is calculated in a bit of a strange way, 50% equates to 37.5% chance to refund and 100% would equate to 50% chance to refund. So you get more value comparatively the lower the stat is. This stat can still be very useful if it lets you get better ult timings throughout the dungeons, but I wouldn't worry about that until you're pushing very high eternal dungeons.

Build Based Stat Priorities

Malevolence build with Treads Of Vexira's Prey:

Expertise > Crit >>> Haste > Spirit

Expertise and Crit are the only 2 secondary stats Mara wants with this build

Hemotoxin build with Treads Of Vexira's Prey:

Expertise > Crit > Haste >>> Spirit

Expertise and Crit are also the best 2 stats for the Hemotoxin build, although you will want around 10% haste on your character sheet, while still avoiding Spirit

Malevolence build with Stalker's Crimson Chain:

Spirit > Crit > Expertise >>> Haste

Since the Stalker's Crimson Chain legendary drastically increases the value of spirit, it now becomes our best stat, and because of all the free Expertise it provides, Crit overtakes Expertise as the second best stat for this build.

Hemotoxin build with Stalker's Crimson Chain:

Spirit > Crit > Expertise > Haste

Once again with the Stalker's Crimson Chain, Spirit becomes Mara's best stat, although since this is a Hemotoxin build, you will want around 10% haste in your stat sheet.

Gems

The Gem System in Fellowship is fairly unique. You can obtain powerful gems to attach to sockets in your gear, which gives you Gem Power that enables different Gem Bonuses. There are multiple Gem sizes that provide you with more Gem Power. You can combine 3 of the same gem type and size using Gem Fusion (Master Craftsman Braggi NPC) to create a gem of the next size up.

It’s worth noting that some socketed gear can additionally drop with a 35% gem power increase (100% for a Legendary). This makes it so you’ll want to prioritize socketing higher quality gems into these items. For example, Legendaries come with a 100% increased gem power socket, making it ideal for your larger gems.

Gem Types & Bonuses

The Gem types each follow a pattern of the type of bonus they provide, a simplification of the Gems is shown in the table below.

Gem Type Gem Bonus
Ruby Main Stat / Boss Combat Buffs
Amethyst Critical Strike
Topaz Haste
Emerald Expertise
Sapphire Stats during Ultimate Ability
Diamond All Secondary Stats

Mara Gem Priority

The early game Gem priority for Mara is the following:

Amethyst > Ruby >Sapphire > Emerald > Diamond > Topaz

As of right now end game gemming is fairly simple. You'll want to hit node 6 in with Amethyst power then node 6 in Ruby, then getting node 10 in amethyst and at last getting node 2 in Sapphire. While keeping at least 2 items without sockets for a set.
