Wailing Caverns Location

The Wailing Caverns is located in The Barrens in the cave by the Forgotten Pools. Horde players will have no issue getting here, as all races except the Undead will be taken here after their starting zones. Undead can take the Zeppelin from Tirisfal Glades to Durotar and travel to the Barrens.

Alliance players will have a hard time getting here. They can either swim from Westfall all the way down to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale, and then take the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet in the Barrens, or they can take the boat from Menethil Harbor to Theramore, and then swim up to Ratchet.

Wailing Caverns Important Trash

Wailing Caverns has a variety of trash mobs, dominated by Druids of the Fang and variants of Deviate beasts. There is a high amount of poison and nature damage from this dungeon.

Deviate Ravager and Deviate Guardian

Raptor mobs that deal physical damage, no important abilities.

Druid of the Fang

  • Will cast Lightning Bolt when not in melee range.
  • Will heal themselves or their allies with Healing Touch.
  • Will enter Serpent Form as they get close to death, dealing intense physical damage.
  • Druid's Slumber is their most dangerous mechanic, putting a random player to sleep. This can and will target your healer.

Deviate Viper

Deviate Shambler

Deviate Dreadfang

  • Deadly mobs that will try to fear players with Terrify.
  • Deals instant physical damage with Bite.
  • Deals magic damage with Lightning Breath.

Wailing Caverns Bosses

The bosses of Wailing Caverns are primarily leaders of the Druids of the Fang, with a variety of beasts and creatures they have tamed.

Lady Andacondra

Lady Andacondra is typically the first boss of the Wailing Caverns. She has similar abilities to her Druids of the Fang friends, and is typically accompanied by them and raptor mobs nearby.

She patrols the initial area so you can pull here without pulling too many mobs around her, and we recommend doing so, as this fight can get overwhelming.

She will cast Lightning Bolt on the tank, attempt to heal herself or her allies with Healing Touch, and will also attempt to incapacitate a target with Sleep. She also has Thorns Aura, dealing reflective damage to people who physically attack her.

Kresh

Kresh is a simple tank and spank boss, only having a powerful Bite ability that he'll cast on his target. Because he is a tortoise mob, he also has high armor and will take less physical damage.

Lord Cobrahn

Lord Cobrahn is accompanied by Deviate Pythons. These are non-elite and can be taken out quickly.

Just like other Druids of the Fang mobs, he has the following abilities: Healing Touch, Lightning Bolt, Druid's Slumber, and will shift into Cobrahn Serpent Form as he gets closer to death.

Prioritize interrupting Druid's Slumber over Healing Touch, as it can target your healer.

Deviate Faerie Dragon (Rare)

Deviate Faerie Dragon is a rare spawn that has no inherent abilities. They are accompanied by a couple Druids of the Fang, so be careful with their abilities, primarily their Druid's Slumber.

Take down the adds first, and then the boss, as the boss is not dangerous by any means.

Lord Pythas

Another Druid of the Fang himself, he has the three Druid abilities: Healing Touch, Lightning Bolt, and Druid's Slumber.

He also will Thunderclap around him, dealing AoE damage and slowing movement/attack speed. He is accompanied by a Druid of the Fang and Deviate Shambler.

You should take down the adds first and use stuns on them to prevent them from using their abilities.

Skum

Skum is a simple boss with only one mechanic: Chained Bolt. It only deals moderate damage, so this boss so go down relatively fast. Spread out to prevent avoidable damage going out, and take the boss down.

Lord Serpentis

Lord Serpentis is the final Druid of the Fang boss, and the leader of this cult. He has no unique abilities to the other druids, and is accompanied by two other Druids of the Fang.

By now, players should be used to the three abilities: Healing Touch, Lightning Bolt, and Druid's Slumber. Take down the adds, then the boss.

Verdan the Everliving

Verdan the Everling is the final boss of Wailing Caverns, outside of Mutanus the Devourer when freeing Naralex.

Verdan hits VERY hard, and healers should be non-stop healing the tank. Verdan has only one ability: Grasping Vines, dealing physical damage to everyone and rooting players.

Keep the tank alive and take this boss down.

Mutanus the Devourer

Before you can fight this boss, you must escort Disciple of Naralex, located at the start of the dungeon. You can start this event after defeating the 4 Druid of the Fang bosses, where he'll now have dialogue options to save Naralex.

We recommend doing this event after you have already cleared out the dungeon as it makes the escort event easier.

Once you make it to the final destination, you'll fight two waves of adds, and then the boss. Mutanus has three abilities: Thundercrack, Terrify, and Naralex's Nightmare. Thundercrack stuns all players nearby for 2 seconds, Terrify fears players for 4 seconds, and Naralex's Nightmare mind controls a player or puts them to sleep.
