How to Get to Pandaria in MoP Classic – Portal Locations for Horde and Alliance

Written by Geekmandem - 10th July 2025

When it comes to getting to the region of Pandaria in MoP Classic, there are a few ways you can get there after you complete the intial quest chains.

A key part of travelling in the World of Warcraft Classic Pandaria Expansion is the travel networks that connect the new land mass to the old one in Azeroth. This network of portals and gunships links new zones to the old world. In this case, we’re heading to Pandaria, a new continent filled with dense jungles, ancient ruins, and Pandaren culture.

But after you return to Stormwind or Orgrimmar to visit the Auction House or bank, how do you get back?

This quick guide explains everything you need to know to venture to and from this new land.

First Time in Pandaria – How to Start the Quest

To unlock Pandaria, you must complete an introduction quest to the region for your faction. This starts in your faction’s capital once you hit level 85.

Horde:

  1. Go to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar
  2. Speak to General Nazgrim to start The Art of War
  3. You’ll be sent to the Skullsplitter Gunship in Durotar
  4. Travel to the Jade Forest and complete the starting quest chain

Alliance:

  1. Go to Stormwind Keep
  2. Speak to Admiral Taylor to start The Art of War
  3. You’ll be sent to the Skyfire Gunship, just outside Stormwind
  4. Complete the intro questline in the Jade Forest

Pro Tip: You must complete this quest chain to unlock the portal to Pandaria later.

Returning to Pandaria After Unlocking It

Once you've finished the intro and want to return to Pandaria, use your faction’s Portal Room. The portals are located in your capital city in your faction's Portal Room.

Horde Portal Locations:

  • In Orgrimmar, go to the Cleft of Shadow
  • Look for the portal to the Shrine of Two Moons in Vale of Eternal Blossoms

Alliance Portal Locations:

  • In Stormwind, go to the Mage Tower in the Cathedral District
  • Use the portal to the Shrine of Seven Stars in Vale of Eternal Blossoms

Pro Tip: For those playing Retail WoW, this is a change from how the portals work, with the Capital City portals instead taking you to Jade Forest. This was changed in BFA as Blizzard tried to engage players in more travel, rather than just having portals move you from capital city to capital city.
