Learning to fly in WoW Pandaria Classic is a fairly easy process, just be prepared to spend a bit of gold to get it.
With WoW Classic heading to Mists of Pandaria, one of the main questions people will have when they hit level 90 is; “How do I unlock flying?”
In this guide, we’ll go over how you can learn to fly in WoW Classic Pandaria, how much it costs, and everything else you need to know.
How to Fly in Mists of Pandaria Classic
To keep it super simple, to fly in Pandaria, you just need to head to the flight master and buy the Wisdom of the Four Winds spell. Basically, this is the Pandaria version of Cold Weather Flying.
The item costs 2,500 gold, although the price is reduced based on your reputation. Doing so requires you to hand in Stolen Golden Lotus Insignia, which can reduce the flying cost; it was added in Patch 5.2. In WoW Classic terms, this will likely be Phase 3, so it won't be available at launch.
To buy the Wisdom of the Four Winds spell, head to the Horde or Alliance capital in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. We've shown the locations of the vendors below; you'll need to interact with these vendors to purchase your Wisdom of the Four Winds.
For Horde, speak to Skydancer Shun, who is on the landing platforms located at the Shrine of the Two Moons.
For Alliance, Cloudrunner Leng is located at the Shrine of the Seven Stars.
To purchase the item requires you to be level 90, with flying not possible for characters levelling. You will also need to purchase the ability to fly on any alts you plan to play, as the spell is not account-wide:
Requirements to fly in Pandaria Classic:
- Level 90
- 2500 gold (Wisdom of the Four Winds)
- Basic flying skill (Expert or higher)
- Purchase spell on each character, not account-wide
Pro Tip: In Warlords of Draenor, an item, Grimoire of the Four Winds, was added to the Black Market Auction House, which lets level 85 characters purchase flying in Pandaria early.
Flying at Max Speed in Pandaria Classic
Buying Wisdom of the Four Winds just gives you the ability to fly in Pandaria. You still need to buy the actual flying speed tiers separately. This is the same way it worked in Northrend.
To fly at the highest speed (310%), you will need to purchase it separately, as you have previously.
- Apprentice Riding - Ground - 60% - 4 Gold
- Journeyman Riding - Ground -100% - 50 Gold
- Expert Riding - Flying - 150% - 250 Gold
- Artisan Riding - Flying - 280% - 5,000 Gold
- Master Riding - Flying - 310% - 5,000 Gold
All the above prices are pre-discount prices, so higher reputations will reduce that by a good amount. All in, you’ll be looking at 13,000 Gold to fully fly at max speed in Pandaria Classic if you don’t have any level of flying already.
If you’re planning to level alts, remember that each one needs to be level 90 and buy the Wisdom of the Four Winds individually. There’s no shared unlock like in retail WoW.
Pandaria Classic Flying Tips
Here are a few extra bits of information about Flying in Pandaria Classic:
- Flying mounts work as ground mounts as they have previously, so you can continue to use your favourite flying mounts from Cataclysm in Pandaria.
- Later in Pandaria, likely Phase 5 or 6, the Timeless Isle will be added to the map. This zone does not allow you to fly, regardless of whether you have unlocked flying.
- Pandaria flying is continent-specific; this won’t retroactively change your ability to fly Northrend or on Azeroth. Those will still need to be purchased separately.
