Elegon Raid Guide for Mogu’shan Vaults MoP Classic
The Fifth fight of the raid is against Elegon, and is the hardest fight in the raid, with a very tight DPS check. This is a 3 phase fight, finishing in a big burn phase. Phase 2 will trigger once Elegon reaches 85% a first time, and again when he reaches 50% HP. Once 2 phases 2 are triggered, Elegon enters his burn phase. During the whole fight, Elegon doesn’t move and stays in the center of the room. He needs to be tanked at all times, or he will grip the raid in and deal a huge amount of damage. Tank him facing away from the raid, to avoid any additional damage from Celestial Breath.
Phase 1
The room is a big part of this fight. It’s divided into an inner (the Energy Vortex) and outer circle. While inside the Energy Vortex, every player is affected by two spells: Touch of the Titans and Overcharged. The first one increases damage done and healing receive, and the second one is a stacking damage over time debuff. Exiting Energy Vortex will remove all Overcharged charges. Players need to be careful not to have more than 7-9 charges, as the damage taken can be rough. Ranged players stay on the edge and reset when needed, Melee players can go out when they feel like or follow the Celestial Protector.
This is an add, spawning regularly during the encounter. The Elegon tank needs to drop Elegon and take the add. This makes the aggro switch of Elegon more natural. This add needs to be focused down and killed, first in the Energy Vortex from 100% to 75% HP, then outside of the energy vortex below 25% HP. The tank tanking the add can bring him slowly to the edge of the platform, and melees can follow it. Once the add is out, melee can go out for a moment just to drop their Overcharged stacks. Once it’s done, they can go back to Elegon, Ranged will finish the add.
While at 25% HP, this add will pulse damage to the whole raid. Once it's dead, it will explode and deal a large amount of damage to the raid. Be careful about this explosion. Everyone should have a low amount of Overcharged before the explosion to survive.
This add is the main event of phase 1. Once Elegon drops to 85% HP, Phase 2 begins.
Phase 2
In phase 2, 6 sparks will drop around Elegon and try to reach the edge of the Energy Vortex. You need to kill all of them. If you do, new sparks will spawn, and will also try to reach the edge, but faster. Each time you manage to kill a wave, the next one will be faster. If a sparks reaches the edge, Phase 3 begins.
You want to delay Phase 3 as much as possible as each new spark spawn increases Elegon’s damage taken by 10% for the rest of the fight. In 10 man, assign 1 DPS to each spark, and in 25 man, 3 DPS per spark. You should aim for 4 to 6 waves. If you reach a wave you are certain you can’t kill, just DPS the boss.
Once a spark isn’t killed fast enough, phase 3 starts.
Phase 3
During this phase, separate the raid in 2 even groups, one on each side of the platform. The console the sparks tried to reach are now Pillars, and each pillar creates a wall. You need to destroy all 6 pillars to get back to phase 1. During this time, you’ll need to dodge AoE and tanks will need to pick up adds spawning around the platform. Once all pillars are down, group the adds, and AoE them down. Then, go back to phase 1.
Once Elegon reaches 50% HP, the second phase 2 and phase 3 starts. After this the last phase starts. Phase 4 is a modified phase 1, where Elegon deals damage constantly to the whole raid, and the outside stone circle is filled with electricity. The outside circle is deadlier than the center of the room, but you will still need to lose Overcharged stacks by moving out of the Energy Vortex. Use a defensive cooldown when you need to do so. This is simply a burn phase: just kill Elegon before your raid dies or before the Enrage timer.
Elegon 25 Man & Heroic Raid Guide MoP Classic
In 25 man, no changes, just assign more players to each sparks.
In Heroic Mode, the Energy Vortex now acts as a line of sight mechanic. So you can’t target anything out of the Energy Vortex while being in, or anything in if you are out. Furthermore, Celestial Protector’s explosion deals way more damage. To deal with this, all the raid should LoS the explosion by playing inside the Energy Vortex when the entity dies, while having one player with an immunity or quasi-immunity tank the hit outside of the Energy Vortex. If no player is tanking, everyone dies. Don’t forget to rotate the players going out to tank this, as Destabilized would instantly kill any player who already soaked once in a phase.
