Will of the Emperor Raid Guide for Mogu’shan Vaults MoP Classic
The Will of the Emperor boss is a two phase fight.
In Phase 1 (and Phase 2), adds will spawn from the back of the room. The priority for which to focus down:
- Emperor's Courage are the most important. They spawn and rush a tank, trying to bump and slow them. Kill them as fast as possible, always DPSing them in their backs. They are immune to any damage coming from the front. They don’t need to be tanked.
- Emperor's Strength can be tanked by a plate DPS. They are the second priority, as their Energizing Smash ability stuns any one hit and grows in size each time it’s used. Tank them on the side of the room or try to kite them around, if needed.
- Lastly, Emperor's Rage are nothing to worry about, they are stunnable, slowable, have low HP and fixate players.
Deal with these adds, and after 90 seconds phase 2 begins. Jan-xi and Qin-xi drop from the wall. They both need to be tanked near the stairs at the entrance of the room, but no tank swap is required.
The fight then continues mostly the same, but with the two bosses participating; the adds are still the highest priority, even when Jan-xi and Qin-xi are present.
In Melee, there are a few things happening, but mostly Devastating Combos. This is a series of 5 attacks around each boss. You’ll have to dodge every attack. There are 2 types of attacks:
- Devastating Arc: a 180° cone in front, left or right of the boss. This attack can be anticipated by watching the small blue lines in front of the bosses or their weapons; if the weapon is held close to the right shoulder, he will hit to the left.
- Stomp: When they are holding one of their feet up, just move away from the boss (but not too far if you are a tank, else you will be pulled by Magnetic Armor).
If you manage to dodge everything as a melee DPS or a Tank, you gain a new extra action button called Opportunistic Strike. Clicking this allows you to deal 500k damage to one boss.
The only additional ability during the fight is Titan Gas. This will deal damage to the whole raid and temporarily stop adds from spawning. Use Healing cooldowns and focus boss.
Will of the Emperor 25 Man & Heroic Raid Guide MoP Classic
In 25 Man, more adds will spawn.
In Heroic Mode:
- Titan Gas is pouring in for the whole fight, but it deals less damage.
- Adds are always spawning, but there are intervals with reduced spawn rates.
- Devastating Combo now lasts for 10 hits and Opportunistic Strike deals 1M damage.
The biggest change comes from the adds, they now release a Titan Spark on death. This will fixate a player and explode on impact. They have a lot of HP and aren’t worth focusing down. If a player touches a Titan Spark, it explodes. To deal with this, kill a few adds, and then have a class with a defensive cooldown or an immunity run through the Titan Spark to clear them.
