All Druid Symbiosis Abilities & The Best Symbiosis Classes

A very interesting and unique ability that is added in MoP Classic is a new Druid ability called Symbiosis. This ability, as the name suggests, allows the Druid to target another player to link with and mutually benefit each other by both the Druid and their target gaining a new temporary ability from each other.

Some of these Symbiosis shared abilities can be both very interesting to play with, but also very impactful to a boss fight or a dungeon for both players. And if nothing else, can offer an extra defensive ability for the Druid.

This guide outlines all of the Symbiosis abilities the Druid and the linked player gets when the Druid uses Symbiosis, as well as provides a suggestion for the best classes to target based on what spell you will get.

Druid Symbiosis Explained

To use Symbiosis, the Druid simply needs to target the player of their choice and use the Symbiosis spell. It will then add a new spell into the spell book of both players.

There are a few key points to know about Symbiosis:

  • Symbiosis lasts for 1 hour, and persists through death.
  • It requires you to be relatively close to your linked player and be in a party or raid group, otherwise it will break the connection.
  • The abilities that both players gain are based on the specialisation of the Druid and whether the targeted player is a Tank, Healer or DPS specialisation (not specifically their spec).
  • The shared abilities are from the respective player’s spellbook.
  • The ability that both parties gain are often slightly different to the original version of the spell.
  • It can’t be used on another Druid.
  • Each player can only be in Symbiosis with 1 Druid at a time.

The table below breaks down the ability that the Druid will receive when using Symbiosis on a specific Class, determined by the Druid’s Spec.

The Best Symbiosis Classes to Target for a Druid

Within the wide range of abilities that both the Druid or the player they are linked with unlock, there are some that stand out more than others in terms of how useful they are. The section below will outline our recommendations for the best abilities the Druid can unlock through Symbiosis.

Generally speaking, there are very few offensive abilities that you can gain, but some of the defensives can be very useful. Because of this, we recommend taking one of these abilities as a baseline, and then swapping when a particular utility or damage spell is very useful for a specific boss fight or dungeon.

Defensive:

Restoration Druid

With Resto Druid having a few interesting Utility abilities available, we felt it worth mentioning as for a healer, sometimes this utility can lead to a higher healing output or saving a member of your group from death. Leap of Faith and Spirit Walker’s Grace (great in combination with Tranquility) could be considered very useful if you don’t want or need the extra defensive.

Feral Druid

Feral Druid is one of the few Druid Specs that gets some pretty good choices for Damage focused abilities.
