Legacy points provide account-wide progression that gives all your characters access to Legacy talents. Each character can spend the Legacy points you have earned on your account separately, and you can also reset the Legacy talents you have selected at your class trainer in a major city for a fee, which is 10 Gold in the beta. The final fee and whether it increases for further resets has not yet been confirmed.
You can currently spend up to 16 Legacy Points on each character. For ways to earn Legacy Points, see The Fastest Way to Get Legacy Points in WoW Forever.
There is no one best way to spend your Legacy points. Much like regular talents, Legacy talents can customize your character in different ways, and different builds are optimal for leveling, reagent farming, professions, PvP progression, and progression raiding.

How Legacy Talent Trees Work in WoW Forever
There are three Legacy talent trees at launch: Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness. You are free to distribute your points between the trees any way you want on each of your characters. However, specific talents require spending points in the trees in two ways:
- Overall Points Spent: some talents require you to spend 5 or 10 points in the specific tree before they are unlocked
- Preceding Talents: some talents require you to get a specific talent to max rank before they are unlocked, indicated by an arrow (like with Talents)

The Dedicated Study Legacy Talent requires both 10 points total and for Bartering to be maxed first.
These combinations force you down specific paths if you want to pick up some key Legacy Talents. Many individually powerful Talents are gated behind less useful Talents, forcing you to choose whether those strong Talents are worth picking up the weaker talents along the way.
At launch, you can spend up to 16 Legacy Points to unlock Legacy Talents. Each talent tree has at least one talent that requires you to spend 10 Legacy Points in that tree to unlock it, which means that you can only get one such Legacy Talent per character by spending 11 Legacy Points on a specific talent tree.
An Evolving System: Over time the Legacy Point cap will increase from 16, new Legacy Talents and even entire new Legacy Talent Trees will be added.
The Best Way to Use Your First Legacy Points in WoW Forever
The Thrill of Adventure Talent in the Adventure tree is the best levelling Legacy Talent that you should choose when your first character unlocks Legacy Talents.

Each rank of Thrill of Adventure provides you with 1% of your total health and mana over 10 seconds after a non-trivial kill in world content (outside dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds). A non-trivial kill is any target that can provide XP or honor, i.e. any non-gray target.
With five ranks of Thrill of Adventure, you will regenerate 5% health and mana for each kill, which will significantly reduce your downtime when questing or farming mobs.
Thrill of Adventure vs Talented
The two main competitors for the top leveling Legacy Talents are Thrill of Adventure and Talented.
Thrill of Adventure provides you with near-constant regeneration that reduces downtime whereas Talented provides you with earlier Talent points, up to five levels earlier with full ranks.

Talented gives you access to more power earlier, although it does not increase your overall power because the talent has no effect on level 60: you will get your full talent set on level 55 instead of level 60 when you have a fully ranked-up Talented Legacy talent.
Playing On PVP? The Talent Points from Talented increase your power and can be particularly strong when leveling on a PvP server where world PvP may happen at any time and unexpected tricks can help you win some of those encounters.
The downsides of Talented are:
- You have to pick up five points in Well Rested in order to access Talented (so it requires 10 Legacy Points total)
- You will always want to respec out of it at level 60 when it no longer does anything
The two talents are difficult to test against each other. It is possible that there are certain classes or specs and certain level ranges where Talented is particularly strong, whereas Thrill of Adventure is consistently good. Thrill of Adventure also has some uses at max level if you do any outdoors mob farming.
The Best Legacy Talent Builds for Leveling
The best Legacy Talent build for leveling depends on your style of leveling and other goals.
It all starts with 5 points in Thrill of Adventure which is the most consistent leveling talent. Beyond that, you have some choices to make:.
Best Build For Pure Leveling
For a full focus on grinding levels, you want to stay in the Adventure tree and take Well Rested and Talented. This leaves you with one more point to spend, for example on Field Medicine.
Best Build For Leveling & Professions
If you want to focus on professions while you level and you are leveling up professions without relying on orange crafts (think Enchanting, for example) then you will likely want 5 Points in Working Overtime from the Professions tree.
You can combine this with a deeper run through the Adventure tree with Field Guide, Field Medicine, and Frequent Flier, but you do not have enough points available to pick up Talented.
Alternatively, you can pick up Bartering from the Professions tree for some cheaper crafting materials along the way. If you are a gatherer instead of a crafter, you can replace Working Overtime with Bountiful Harvest.
Best Build For Leveling & Reputation Gains
If you want improved reputation gains already while leveling, you can go down the Resourcefulness tree and put 5 Legacy Points in Diplomat, which requires another 5 points spent there, most likely on Gourmand and The Quick and the Dead even though neither is great. You will then have 1 point left, which you can use for Reagent Economy.
The Best Legacy Talent Build For Professions & Gathering
Legacy Talents are crucial for gatherers in WoW Forever. Bountiful Harvest in the Professions tree gives you up to 100% more 'scarce materials' from Mining, Herbalism, and Skinning. Note that this is for scarce materials, not the basic materials you get, so you need to mine tens of nodes to see any effect. For dedicated gathering runs however, this Talent is phenomenal.
Scarce Materials: Scarce materials are 'bonus drops' you can get from gathering, such as Pristine Leather from Skinning or Pyrite from Mining.
You can add Bartering for cheaper vendor prices and that also unlocks Dedicated Study. Dedicated Study can improve your primary and secondary tradeskills, albeit slowly, and once you have full 300 skill points in all five professions on your character, it will start giving you free Elemental Essence every day. You cannot skip any skills by not starting them if you want the Elemental Essence; you need to fully level up Cooking, First Aid, and Fishing.
These Legacy Talent synergies make having a dedicated gatherer alt highly attractive in WoW Forever.
A full Gatherer Build combines Bountiful Harvest, Bartering, Dedicated Study, Master Chef, and Luremaster for a full package. That leaves you with one extra point, for example for The Quick and the Dead.
The Best Legacy Talent Builds For PVP
If you want to focus on PVP, these are the Legacy Talents to look out for:
- High Alert for improved Stealth detection (outside Battlegrounds)
- For Great Honor for up to 10% more Honor Points
- Diplomat for up to 10% increased reputation gains can be useful for Battlegrounds reputations
- Thrill of Adventure, Talented, and Field Medicine in the Adventure tree can also be beneficial depending on your class and type of PvP you are engaged in - with Talented only being advantageous before you reach level 60
What you choose will depend upon what type of PVP you are engaging in.
Battlegrounds PVP Build
If you mostly participate in Battlegrounds, you can easily fit in both For Great Honor and Diplomat for maximum rewards.
Open World PVP Build
If you participate in open-world PvP, Thrill of Adventure, High Alert and Field Medicine can be important. This forces you to choose between them, For Great Honor, and Diplomat, and possibly divide your points between them. For any twink builds that are not at the max level, or while leveling, you want to pick up Talented as well.
The Best Legacy Talent Builds for Dungeons & Raiding
For dungeons & raiding, Legacy Talents offer you ways to keep your buffs up longer, reduce the cost of your buffs and allow you to reset faster after wipes.
You can reduce your repair costs (Reinforce), increase your reputation gains for faster reputation grinding (Diplomat), move faster when dead (The Quick and the Dead), and set your group/raid buffs up faster and cheaper (Reagent Economy and Gourmand).
