Satchel Of Potions In WoW Forever: How To Get It & What It Does

Written by Geekmandem - 10th October 2026

The Satchel Of Potions is a fun quest reward you can get from the Excavation Site: Wetlands dungeon. When used, the item procs a random potion effect with four possible options.

We all like a bit of fun in WoW, and Forever is full of fun and secrets (like the Torch!). The Satchel of Potions is one such item and it comes in the form of a short cooldown trinket. While it's not really one you should rely on, the chance of a sprint buff when you run can be worth it alone.

Though... it's a bit of a monkey's paw, because the one negative effect could kill you. So good luck!

How To Get The Satchel Of Potions In WoW Forever

The item is rewarded from a quest in the Excavation Site dungeon for both Horde and Alliance.

For Horde, the quest is Changing Tastes and is picked up from Borstan, the Cooking trainer in Orgrimmar.

Alliance need to do a little more work to get it. Collect the quest Lost In The Thicket Things in Wetlands from Caitlin Grassman.

The quest sends you to the dungeon Excavation Site: Wetlands to find Ardin Grassman. Once you find him, take the quest Heartwoven and head back to Caitlin Grassman in Wetlands.

What Does Satchel Of Potions Do?

When you trigger the Satchel Of Potions, one of four possible effects will trigger (at random).

Three of these are the same effects as would be granted by using the following potions, and the fourth effect is a negative effect:

The Swiftness Potion effect can be really handy when traversing Azeroth before you get your mount (for example if you decide to complete the WoW Forever Books quests).

The trinket has a 10-minute cooldown, which is pretty long, but it makes a fun button to click while you run about the world. Honestly, the Swiftness Potion effect alone makes it worth trying to get it, and given the XP and loot in the dungeon, it's well worth a brief detour to go and get it.

It's a pretty fun trinket, and you won't have a lot of other great options this early in the game anyway. We probably wouldn't recommend using it when you are in a bind, but maybe the WoW gods will smile upon you and give you the Healing Potion when you need it. Let's be honest, it's more likely to just kill you though isn't it.
