World of Warcraft: Forever, Classic WoW’s latest instalment in the franchise, looks at some changes in itemization. In this article, we break down what Principal Game Designer, Kris Zierhut, presented at the WoW Forever Deep Dive at Blizzcon.

STATS
The goal for WoW Forever is to “unsolve the solved content”. Stats such as Hit and Critical Strike Chance will now be applied to Melee Ranged and Spell Hit, instead of being separated. Weapon Skill items have been severely nerfed, and with all Racials removing any sort of weapon skill buff, it means melee players will no longer look to seek gear like this.
It will instead be replaced with Expertise, and will work similarly to how it did in The Burning Crusade. The last update is that Bonus Healing gear will now also have Spell Power on it, making it easier for healers to level up in the open world.
On top of this, bonus damage and healing will be coming to weapons around the level 10 area, and new extremely niche items such as species and even biome specific trinkets are being added to this game.
UPDATED AND NEW GEAR
WoW Forever looks to update old gear and add new pieces to players on their levelling journey. Item sets such as the Blackened Leather and Embrace of the Viper have new set bonuses, and this presentation included new quest reward examples. The Ladimore Heirloom Ring can presumably be a new reward added to the Mor’Ladim quest chain for Alliance players in Duskwood.
REVAMPED RARE AND EPIC DROPS
In addition to updated quest and dungeon gear, Rare spawn drops and Epic world drops have also been updated. The goal, according to Kris Zierhut, was to remove any “bad” Epic drops so players don’t get disappointed when one finally drops off a mob in the open world. Whether you equip it or sell it, you'll be happy to see that purple text on your screen!
On top of that, killing Rare spawns will now be more rewarding. Players who find themselves spending a lot of time in Winterspring will want to farm which ever rare drops the Wintersaber Hide Lined Gloves, giving a 6% mount increase speed to players when in Winterspring!
