Leveling up your minis gives you a huge power boost in Warcraft Rumble. While some of the levels come from rarity (up to +4), talents (up to +3), and army bonus slots (up to +4), the majority of them, 20 levels, come from XP.
At launch, the XP gains in Warcraft Rumble were tiny, but Blizzard has improved them several times, and the current XP gains are 9x what they were at launch! This has made XP farming a far more attractive option because you get much more value for your time.
In this article, I will show you how to farm XP as effectively as possible.
Collection Level and XP
It all begins with your Collection Level. The XP you gain from all sources depends on your Collection Level and reaches its cap at Collection Level 50.
You gain Collection Level from mini levels and rarity. As the number of minis in the game has grown, it has become easier to improve your Collection Level: you want to collect every mini in the game, but you do not have to improve the rarity of them all to reach Level 50.
Another source of improvement is the paid Arclight Booster, which gives a permanent +20% increase to XP gains from gameplay, which includes all of your XP farming.
At Collection Level 50, your XP gains from the main gameplay sources are:
- Common (green) Quests: 900 XP (1080 XP with Booster)
- Rare (blue) Quests: 2700 XP (3240 XP with Booster)
- Epic (purple) Quests: 4500 XP (5400 XP with Booster)
- PvP wins: 900 XP (1080 XP with Booster)
- Siege/Raid wins: 900 XP (1080 XP with Booster)
You also gain a tiny amount of XP at the end of each game, 10 XP (12 XP) for a win and 5 XP (6 XP) for a loss.
Targeting Specific Minis for XP
You are always offered a Quest for the lowest-level mini in your active army when the quest is rolled. Note that this only takes into account the XP level, not the bonus levels. All minis on the same XP level are treated the same, even if one of them is at 80,000/90,000 and another is at 20/90,000. If you have multiple minis at the lowest level, the one who gets the quest is random between them.
The XP you gain at the end of the game is assigned to a random non-maxed mini in your army. If you have minis that have reached the XP cap, you can use them alongside one non-maxed mini to funnel all XP to that mini. If all minis in your army are maxed, the XP goes to a random non-maxed mini in your collection.
Daily XP cap and a small trick
The maximum amount of XP you can gain from gameplay in a day is 50,000 XP. This cap resets at every daily reset.
Tomes, bonus XP for new minis, and XP Gems on the Grid do not count against the daily XP cap.
You can also circumvent the cap a little:
- Complete a Quest before you reach the cap
- Do not claim the reward
- Reach the cap through Sieges/Raids/PvP
- Come back and claim the Quest reward
This allows you to push over the cap by that one Quest. If it is an Epic Quest, you can go around 10% over the cap!
You know you have reached the daily XP cap when your Quests show +0 XP as reward, and your Raid matches end with no XP screen.
After you have reached the daily XP cap, completing a Quest does not reroll the Quest.
How to Get Better Quests
You can complete 20 new Quests per day, and your quota stacks up to 300 if you do not complete them all. The quest rarity distribution is roughly 87.5% green, 10% blue, and 2.5% purple.
Green quests last for 30 minutes, after which they are replaced, usually with another green quest. You can check your quests throughout the day to see if you have gained a blue or purple quest to complete for more XP. Only Quests that you complete count against your limit.
You can also reroll green quests by winning games in PvP. Every time you win, the quest changes. However, as most quests are green, your quest will usually be replaced by another green quest. PvP wins do not reroll blue or purple quests.
The Fastest Way to Farm XP
Quests are by far the fastest way to gain XP. Depending on how often you farm, you may have enough backlog to reach your daily cap by doing quests alone.
For a small increase to your daily cap, leave a quest unclaimed before you reach the cap, go win in PvP or Raid to reach the cap, and then claim the quest. It takes 46 green quests to reach the cap with Booster and 55 green quests without Booster.
If you have no quest backlog, the 20 quests you get per day will not be enough to reach the daily XP cap. You have two options to reach it:
First, you can play PvP between your quests to reroll them to a higher rarity to reach the cap more easily. Note that you need to win games to reroll quests. PvP wins also give you a good chunk of XP.
Second, you can play quests as usual and fill in the rest with Sieges or Raids. This is slightly slower, but works if you are not interested in PvP.
The Best Decks for XP Farming
For Quests, the best deck to use is Ysera with the poison talent. Your main plan is a simple one: play Whelp Eggs close to the boss, and as it breaks the Eggs, play Earth Elemental on the other side to get its attention. Add Ysera Whelps for more damage and give everyone Bloodlust with Execute. Use Defias Bandits for defense and to open any chests. The remaining two slots are flexible: one is for your leveling target, and the other can be any cheap mini that supports your plan, such as Quilboar, Cheat Death, or Smoke Bomb with Ambush talent.

Note that some Quest bosses are poorly suited for farming, such as Ysera. If you get such a boss, it is usually better to surrender and pick another quest to get a different map.
The decks you want to use for Sieges and Raids depend on which one is active. You can find up-to-date comps in our Siege of Ironforge, Siege of Stormwind, and Molten Core guides.
Siege of Stormwind is the best place for farming, as you can beat normal Allison quickly with Ysera.
In Siege of Ironforge, normal Thiefcatchers is OK, but nothing is nearly as fast as Allison in Stormwind.
In Molten Core, you can go for normal Lucifron, Magmadar, or Gehennas.
