What’s New for Holy Paladins in Mists of Pandaria
Mists of Pandaria is one of the biggest steps forward in terms of class design. A lot of classes are getting reworked, changed, or improved. Paladin are one of them, with each spec receiving groundbreaking changes. Retribution and Protection are both receiving insane changes. Holy is also changing quite a bit, but the core of the specialization is going to stay mostly the same: you are a melee healer. Seal of Insight doesn’t give mana anymore, here are the other changes:
- Seal and Aura are getting a rework, seals are a bit simpler and Auras are gone (outside of the Raid Cooldown Aura of Devotion)
- Blinding Light has been added.
- Blessing of Might now give 3000 Mastery.
- Guardian of the Ancient Kings Cooldown reduced.
- Hand of Salvation reduces threat to 0.
- Emancipate is a new spell removing slows and snares with no cooldown.
- Holy Power can now be stacked to 5.
- Inquisition is easier to maintain.
- Divine storm is now a true spender.
Is Holy Paladin Good?
Holy Paladin are good enough. This is not a very comforting answer, but it’s the truth. As a Paladin, the sheer amount of utility you bring is unmatched. Hand of Sacrifice, Hand of Protection, Hand of Freedom, Devotion Aura, an immunity, it’s great. And you are also incredible at healing one single target. For the whole group, it’s a bit harder. You can’t match the healing output of most other healers. But still, your throughput is enough to heal the group during most encounters, so if you love Holy Paladin, you should play it.
Best Talents & Glyphs for Holy Paladin in MoP Classic
The new talent system offers a lot of options. This guide will give you 2 talent builds, one for dungeons and one for raids. But remember to swap your talents around depending on the encounter.
Holy Paladin Raiding Talent Build
Holy Paladin has an incredible number of choices in the tree, and you can pretty much change each row depending on the fight:
- Speed of Light can be changed for Pursuit of Justice if you need to move constantly.
- Fist of Justice, Repentance and Evil is a Point of View will be swapped around depending on the fight, but Fist of Justice is the more versatile solution.
- Eternal Flame and Selfless Healer are very close together. Selfless healer will help you a bit more if you have mana problems.
- Clemency can be swapped with Unbreakable Spirit if you need more personal cooldowns.
- Divine Purpose and Holy Avenger are both great options. Divine Purpose is better if you have mana issues (which will be a problem early on in the expansion) and Holy Avenger is better if you don’t have any mana issues.
- Finally, Light’s Hammer is your default choice but if you are playing in an encounter where the raid is really spread out, Holy Prism will be better.
Best Holy Paladin Raid Glyphs
Regarding Major Glyphs, you will want to obtain Glyph of Hand of Sacrifice, Glyph of Protector of the Innocent, Glyph of Divinity.
Other choices might be Glyph of Divine Protection, Glyph of Beacon of Light, Glyph of Flash of Light.
Minor Glyphs aren’t that great, but you can consider some things like Glyph of the Righteous Retreat and Glyph of Focused Wrath.
Holy Paladin Dungeons & Challenge Mode Talent Build
The choices in the dungeon build might be different from the raid build, but the reasoning behind each choice is the same as the raid build.
Holy Paladin Dungeon Glyph

Rotation for Holy Paladin in MoP Classic
Holy Paladins use Holy Power generators to get Holy Power and then spend it. Here are the different rotations and how to heal.
Single Target & AoE Rotation & Priority
- Stay in Seal of Insight.
- Use Divine Favor, Avenging Wrath, Holy Avenger (if talented) and Guardian of the Ancients Kings in high damage situations. Try and not use everything at once, to be sure to have something to do in case of emergencies.
- Maintain Beacon of Light on the Tank. Change if the active Tank changes.
- Use Light’s Hammer on Cooldown.
- Use your Holy Power on Word of Glory/Eternal Flame and Light of Dawn. World of Glory for Single Target heals, Eternal Flame for Single Target but also to spread the heal over time to targets and Light of Dawn to instantly heal 6 targets in AoE.
- Use Judgment on Cooldown. If you play with Selfless Healer it’s even more important to cast Judgment on Cooldown.
- Cast Holy Shock on Cooldown.
- Use Crusader Strike on Cooldown.
- Use Holy Radiance to Generate Holy Power while AoE healing.
- Use Divine Light on your Beacon of Light for Holy Power while your Beacon bearer takes high damage.
- If you need a bit more healing, use Holy Light during situations without emergencies and Flash of Light in emergencies.
