Tier Sets
Note: The Season 2 Tier set is powerful and you will drop Season 1 4-set when you get the new 2-set at ~Heroic item level. This can change slightly depending on slots.. You will generally not change talent builds until you get the new 4-set though.
Shadow Priest Season 2 Tier Set:
- (2) Set Bonus: Your damaging spells have a chance to hit a Jackpot! That fires a Void Bolt at an enemy at 100% effectiveness. Casting Dark Ascension or Void Eruption always hits a Jackpot! (rppm 1.5).
- (4) Set Bonus: Hitting a Jackpot! Grants you 5.0 seconds of Power Infusion. Mind Blast and Void Bolt deal 10% increased damage while Power Infusion is active.
shadow priest Best in Slot Gear
You should still prioritize the gear you use by running a sim for your character, but the lists below will give you a good idea of what items are considered good for Shadow Priest, and help you target the right content for each piece of loot.
The below list is meant to give you a goal, not the end all be all. You can tweak various pieces depending on your exact stats or setup. You should always sim yourself on various settings to determine if something is an upgrade rather than blindly following this list.
*NOTE* With the introduction of high itemlevel items, Cyrce’s Circlet will no longer be BiS. I have added 3 good options for the 2nd ring slot, but there are plenty others that might sim slightly higher depending on your gear or stats. You have a few options at ~684 to replace it.

Trinkets
With the introduction of the new Tier Set, playing double passive trinkets is generally very fine in Season 2, and even the most optimal in some settings. If you ever need burst damage or pulling big around cooldowns, you should use Signet of the Priory as the on-use trinket.
S-Tier:
- Eye of Kezan (Especially on longer fights)
- Mug’s Moxie Jug
- House of Cards (Play it as a 2min trinket)
A-Tier:
- House of Cards (Play it as a 2min trinket)
- Synergistic_Brewterializer
- Signet of the Priory
- Reverb Radio
B-Tier:
- Soulletting Ruby
- Quickwick Candlestick
- Spymaster’s Web (Mythic track)
- Entropic Skardyn Core
- Shadowbinding Ritual Knife
Embellishments
Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension + Writhing Armor Banding
Generally the best choice in all content. Craft the Ascension on a weapon (pref Staff, unless you already have a Mythic 1H, and then craft the Armor Banding on Wrist/Cloak/Belt etc.
2x Duskthread or Dawnthread Lining
Can be better in some scenarios, like M+, where you have a lot of downtime between pulls so your Ascension stacks start to drop.
Puzzling Cartel Chips:
With the launch of Turbo Boost we also have access to the Cartel Chips (Dinars). Throughout the season you will obtain 3 chips in total. To purchase items at a certain track you need to clear that content at the appropriate level. So if you for example have only killed One-Armed Bandit on Heroic, you can only purchase a Hero track House of Cards. As a Shadow Priest there is no set items to purchase as this is a highly personal system based on the gear you currently have. We have several good options for you to consider and the order you might buy or skip them is up to you.
Top items to Consider:
- House of Cards
- Mug’s Moxie Jug
- Big Earner’s Bludgeon (only if you can buy Mythic track)
- The Jastor Diamond
- Eye of Kezan
Corruptions
As a Shadow Priest you should be using the Greater Rune of the Void Ritual in all content. Since you can't easily swap the corruption enchants, picking the one that gives the best overall value is the best choice. There might be some niche scenarios where Gushing Wounds, Twilight Devastation or Echoing Void does slightly more damage. But with downsides, positional requirements or bad target scaling, they all fall short in a lot of other scenarios.
Note: Echoing void by default will not do damage in sims for ranged classes. This can be overridden with distance=5, but I heavily recommend not to play around with this a lot unless you REALLY know what you are doing. The downside of having to always be in melee for it, heavily reduces its overall value.
Cyrce’s Circlet
Best Gems:
Note: Depending on gear, Legendary Skippers Citrine might sim slightly higher than Windsinger’s, but generally…
- Thunder: Stormbringer’s Runed Citrine
- Sea: Fathomdweller’s Runed Citrine
- Wind: Legendary Skippers Citrine
Cyrce's Circlet ring will be replaced by just about any other ring at ilevel 684. There are plenty of good options depending on the stats you need and this should be on average 0.5% better than Cyrce's for most setups.
