There are a lot of great weapon choices in Blood of the Dawnwalker, and in this list, we show you how to obtain the very best.
Although a lot of these weapons are useful in different circumstances, some do shine more than others. In addition to showing you how to obtain each of these weapons, we'll advise on their strengths and uses.

Durandel
This sword is seriously powerful, and it was included in our Best Early Swords Guide because, unlike some of the others, you can obtain this fairly early into the game.

The route to getting it is a bit of a faff however, so stick with us.
Follow these steps:
- Make your way to Svartrau City (see above).
- Pop into the Tavern (also above) and chat to the Innkeeper for the local gossip.
- That kicks off a quest to track down Skender's Men, who've tumbled into a chasm and dragged a load of treasure down with them.
- It's a fair way back up north, so grab a fast travel point to save yourself the trek.
- The quest itself is the Cursed Chasm, and it points you towards the wrecked bridge over to the west of Briars Slough.
- Drop into the chasm, clear out the enemies knocking about, and grab your loot.
Pro tip: Rock up at night, and you can just ride your way straight down the side of the chasm.
The enemies here won't give you much bother. The boss, Echo, is a different story though, and it'll wear you down fast if you let it drain you. There's some other tasty loot lying around too, including the Treasure Map: Silver Cache. That one's worth chasing since it pays out a big pile of silver; just watch yourself with the wolves guarding it because they can be a nuisance.
Inbued Sword of St. Mihai (Saint Mihai Sword)

This is arguably the best sword in the game, with the caveat that it requires a few steps to get it to that point.
You receive a basic version of this sword at the start and then upgrade it as you go, however you can also just wait till the end and take the sword in its final form.
Before you get started, we need to start and complete the quest A Monk and a Saint. This will reward us with the sword, but... it's not very good without the shards.
Quest Guide
This is a bit of a quest behind a quest, behind a quest situation. You need to do the following: Echoes of Silenced Bells > Between the Words > A Monk and a Saint. The Echoes of Silenced Bells is the quest you get right after the prologue ends.
Now complete the A Monk and a Saint quest, which will reward you with this Legendary sword. Now to get the shards to power it. Note that each Sword Shard takes 3x time notches.
Pro Tip: Examine all the cave paintings as you go, as they reveal the locations of the other shards, as well as the location of the Uriashi Blacksmith, who will be able to repair the sword when you have all the parts.

The Final Ritual
Lastly, you need to perform the Final Ritual. The Uriashi Hermitage marked on your map is the blacksmith who can put the sword together. This upgrades the sword to Epic, but one more step is required to make it Legendary.
Head behind the Hermitage up the cliff to the corrupted vines. You can cut through the vines with the sword. Here, you will need to fight some undead and a boss. Once done, approach the ritual site again to complete the ritual.
Kingslayer
Like Durandal, this is another weapon that is very easy to get early. You just need to pick it up.

We have two ways to get this sword: one from a Treasure Map and one with Denari. There is no need to actually get the Treasure Map; just head to the location shown above, west of Svartrau City. The 'Dig Out The Treasure' task will take one Time Notch to complete, but it's well worth it.
You can also just buy it. Head to Svartrau and look for the Silver Merchant, located as shown above in the southern quarter of the city. Talk to him, and you can purchase the Kingslayer for just shy of 5,000 Denarii. Certain skills can reduce this price.
Gladius
- (+) Damage against Mortals
- (+) Maximum Vampiric Health
- (+) Weapon Critical Hit Damage
- (+) Weapon Critical Hit Chance
Gladius is one of the best swords in the game for fighting Bencis, and can be obtained via the Beast of Balaur quest. To start the quest, head to Mount Balaur, and find the Beast of Balaur, kill it, and you gain access to the loot.
The sword is located in a chest after the boss, in a cavern area. If it's night, you can use your Vampiric movement to get to it easily.
Oddly, you also get the sword as a reward for beating Bencis at the end of the game.
Uriashi Hermit Legendary Swords
The Uriashi Hermit vendor sells three Legendary swords. The Prizewinner, Hand of Fate, and The Purge. You will need the Witchcraft Perk to unlock the sale of these Legendary swords.
Pro Tip: You will come to this location when you are hunting for Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.
The Prizewinner

- (+) Weapon Critical Hit Chance
The Prizewinner can be purchased from the Uriashi Hermit when you are doing the Forge It Anew quest. You will need to unlock the Bewitching Influence Witchcraft Perk to be able to purchase it.
The Purge

- (-) Attack Stamina Cost
- (-) Swordmastery Ability Cooldown
- (-)Block Stamina Cost
This is another sword that can be purchased from the Uriashi Hermit. It can also be purchased from the Silver Merchant in Svartrau.
Hand of Fate
- (+) Passive Activation Charge Restoration
- (+) Activation Charge Restoration from Actions
- (+) Witchcraft Ability Damage
- (-) Witchcraft Ability Cooldown
This sword can be purchased from the Uriashi Hermit. But it can also be gained from a quest.
Once you defeat Rigoz during the A Hero's End quest, head back where you came from to the area with the empty sarcophagus, then turn left. Here you will find a hole that you can squeeze through. The Hand of Fate is inside the chest at the end of this area, after defeating all the enemies.
The Runner-Up

The sword can be purchased from within Svartrau City at the Blacksmith located near the Cathedral.
