In this guide, we show you where all 12 Dragonriding races of the Northrend Cup are located, and give you a brief summary of each race; when to save vigor, when to use it, and what to look out for.
We recommend trying the races without the guide as it can be fun to figure out your own tactic, but if you get frustrated or feel it's taking too long a time, then our testing might be of help.
Completing all 12 of the Northrend Cup races on Basic, Advanced and Reverse difficulties rewards you with the "Northrend Racer" Title and Frosted Riders of Azeroth Tabard.

Howling Fjord
Scalawag Slither
The Scalawag Slither Dragonriding race is located in the south west of Howling Fjord.
/way Howling Fjord 42 67 Scalawag Slither
In this race there is no specific reason to hold vigor, so use it as you see fit.
The only thing to look out for is that a boat and a lift can, with bad RNG, be in the path of the race. For the basic difficulty race, the timer is lenient, which means this is less of a concern. Whereas, for the advanced race, you may want to wait for the boat to NOT be in the position shown in the picture below, which should ensure it will not be in the way of you during the race.
In general the turns are tight, and for advanced and reverse difficulties the timer is tight as well, which means sloppy corners will stop you achieving the gold timer.
Scalawag Slither Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 78.000 Seconds | 73.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Hard | 71.000 Seconds | 68.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 73.000 Seconds | 70.000 Seconds |
Daggercap Dart
The Daggercap Dart Dragonriding race is located in central Howling Fjord.
/way Howling Fjord 57 49 Daggercap Dart
In this race, the distance between the rings is large, with a few tight gaps to squeeze through.
For basic and advanced versions of this race, the timer is fairly lenient. During the reverse version, there is a long uphill section by the waterfalls which you need to save vigor for, else you will lose a lot of time. The image below shows what to expect just before the uphill section.
Daggercap Dart Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 82.000 Seconds | 77.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 79.000 Seconds | 76.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 79.000 Seconds | 76.000 Seconds |
Grizzly Hills
Blackriver Burble
Blackriver Burble is the only race in Grizzly Hills, and is located in the center of the zone.
/way Grizzly Hills 44 43 Blackriver Burble
In this race, and in all versions of the race, there are a lot of obstacles you can bump into. Once you avoid the obstacles, the timer is lenient on both basic and advanced.
For the reverse race, there is a lot of uphill that you want to save vigor for. It’s worth highlighting that Skyward Ascent might make you more prone to hit the obstacles than Surge Forward, and you can get the gold timer by just using Surge Forward.
Blackriver Burble Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 80.000 Seconds | 75.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 70.000 Seconds | 67.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 71.000 Seconds | 68.000 Seconds |
Zul’Drak
Gundrak Fast Track
The Gundrak Fast Track Dragonriding race is located in the north east of Zul’Drak.
/way Zul’Drak 83 17 Gundrak Fast Track
During this race, you want to look out for some tight gaps around buildings. However, you see the gaps well ahead and have plenty of time to aim in the basic and advanced races, and even more so in the reverse race.
Otherwise, use your vigor as you please and try to keep the speed up, as the timer is a bit tight on advanced and reversed.
Gundrak Fast Track Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 70.000 Seconds | 65.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 70.000 Seconds | 67.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Easy | 70.000 Seconds | 67.000 Seconds |
Zul’Drak Zephyr
The Zul’Drak Zephyr Dragonriding Race is located in the middle of Zul’drak.
/way Zul’Drak 40 39 Zul’Drak Zephyr
This race is short and easy on all difficulties, with hardly any obstacles. In the reverse race, there are a few blind turns to watch out for, but the timer is lenient so you can take the course at a reasonable pace.
Zul’Drak Zephyr Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 65.000 Seconds | 60.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Easy | 65.000 Seconds | 62.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Easy | 67.000 Seconds | 64.000 Seconds |
The Storm Peaks
The Makers’ Marathon
The Makers’ Marathon Dragonriding race is located in the north of Storm Peaks.
/way The Storm Peaks 47 21 The Makers’ Marathon
This is a long course with a lot of uphill in the second half of the basic and advanced races.
Make sure to save vigor for the big climb at the end, where Skyward Ascend is more worthwhile than Surge Forward.
In advanced, the distance between vigor orbs is quite long at times, which makes it harder to keep momentum. Try to maintain one vigor to use if your speed drops.
The reverse race is much easier, as it’s mainly downhill, but make sure to start with Skyward Ascent as it starts with an uphill section.
The Makers’ Marathon Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 105.000 Seconds | 100.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 96.000 Seconds | 93.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Easy | 101.000 Seconds | 98.000 Seconds |
Icecrown
Citadel Sortie
The Citadel Sortie Dragonriding Race is located in southern Icecrown.
/way Icecrown 51 91 Citadel Sortie
This race is hard, as it’s long with a tight timer for all difficulties.
Use your vigor as you please and make sure to get through the tight gaps, which is the only thing to look out for in basic and advanced.
On the reverse course there are some very tight blind corners to learn. The corner coming out of the Aldur’thar area is particularly difficult at high speed; the image below shows what to expect here.
Citadel Sortie Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 77.000 Seconds | 110.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Hard | 106.000 Seconds | 103.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 107.000 Seconds | 104.000 Seconds |
Sholazar Basin
Sholazar Spree
The Sholazar Spree Dragonriding race is located on the east of Sholazar Basin.
/way Sholazar Basin 79 54 Sholazar Spree
The start of this race has a lot of obstacles for basic and advanced versions of the course. If you bump into anything, then you should just reset and go again, as the timer is tight both for basic and advanced. Once you get past the start, the rest of the race is nice and open.
The reverse race is a lot harder than the advanced, since a lot of the turns become blind, and covered up by plants, which makes it easy to crash. Make sure to hold some vigor for the end as the last climb is steep.
Sholazar Spree Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 93.000 Seconds | 88.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 88.000 Seconds | 85.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 88.000 Seconds | 85.000 Seconds |
Borean Tundra
Geothermal Jaunt
The Geothermal Jaunt Dragonriding Race is located in the north of Borean Tundra.
/way Borean Tundra 54 15 Geothermal Jaunt
This is the shortest race with a very lenient timer for the basic race. You have time to crash and still make the gold timer.
For advanced and reverse the timer is very tight, and any mistake will mean you stop and reset. Flying under the oil rig on the advanced course might take you a few times to get right.
On the reverse course, you want to stay central to avoid accidentally landing or crashing into a pipe when you first go under the rig. Some of the turns are very tight, and on the reverse version of the course they become blind, which is also a difficulty increase.
Geothermal Jaunt Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 50.000 Seconds | 45.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Hard | 40.000 Seconds | 37.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 40.000 Seconds | 37.000 Seconds |
Coldarra Climb
The Coldarra Climb Dragonriding Race is located on the Coldarra island, in the west of Borean Tundra.
/way Borean Tundra 32 23 Coldarra Climb
This race has some obstacles to look out for, as well as a fairly tight timer on all difficulties.
Beware of dodging the obstacles around the Nexus area while also flying very close to the ground.
On the reverse course, make sure to hold at least one vigor to do the fairly steep climb at the end.
Coldarra Climb Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 63.000 Seconds | 57.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 56.000 Seconds | 53.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 58.000 Seconds | 55.000 Seconds |
Dragonblight
Dragonblight Dragon Flight
The Dragonblight Dragon Flight course is located in the north of Dragonblight.
/way Dragonblight 62 11 Dragonblight Dragon Flight
This is a very long course, with a fair few obstacles in the dragonshrine areas.
The basic race has a pretty lenient timer, meaning you can spend your vigor as you please. The advanced and reverse races have much tighter timers, and with large gaps between vigor orbs it can be very easy to lose speed.
This is especially true after the Ruby Dragonshrine in the advanced race, and at the very start of the reverse race, so you might want to hold a vigor for that part of the course.
Dragonblight Dragon Flight Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Easy | 120.000 Seconds | 115.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Medium | 113.000 Seconds | 110.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 113.000 Seconds | 113.000 Seconds |
Crystalsong Forest
Crystalsong Crisis
The Crystalsong Crisis Dragonriding Race is located in the east of Crystalsong Forest.
/way Crystalsong Forest 57 49 Crystalsong Crisis
This race is very long and is the only one that contains fire hazards. In the basic race, you can get hit by one hazard and still make the gold timer, whereas being hit on the advanced or reverse race will lose too much time and will likely require a restart.
Make sure to hold at least one or two vigor charges for the long section without vigor orbs around Dalaran.
Crystalsong Crisis Dragonriding Race Timers
Race Type | Difficulty | Silver Timer | Gold Timer |
Basic | Medium | 102.000 Seconds | 97.000 Seconds |
Advanced | Hard | 97.000 Seconds | 94.000 Seconds |
Reverse | Hard | 99.000 Seconds | 96.000 Seconds |
I had a lot of fun completing the Dragonracing tracks in the Northrend Cup, getting some nostalgia at speed, and I'm now looking forward to seeing where the next Cup will be located. Hopefully you enjoyed it just as much, and that our guide helped you find and achieve Gold times for all of the races!
