Control Resonant changed its combat style from its first title, from a shooter to a melee system. This melee combat introduced new dynamics, including Aberrant Form weapons, Combat Abilities, Combos, and Talents.
Talents are Control Resonant's skill tree system. This skill tree is divided into three branches that overlap every few abilities if you want to switch to another path. There are many talents to select from, so in this guide we'll show what unlock order is best for Early, Mid, and Late game.

How to Unlock Talents

First of all, you need to know how to earn Talents. You will be rewarded with Talent Points when you level up a zone in Control Resonant. In the map menu, you will be able to see each zone's level.
You level up these zones by completing activities that grant XP, such as clearing an area of enemies, completing side quests, finding collectibles, and more. Beware that leveling up each area will increase the enemy rank as well. You will find the Talents skill tree by interacting with the two big stones that are to the right side of the Aberrant Forms upgrade pillar in the Gap.
Best Talents for Early Game

There are two Talents that are mandatory to unlock in the skill tree: Dominance, which is part of story progression to unlock, and Perfect Dodge, which you need to unlock all other lanes. Between these two, you can choose between two other skills; we recommend All-Rounder. This skill will give you 5% extra Damage and Falter for all attacks; both essential bonuses that will add to your survivability and offense.
After Perfect Dodge, things get a little more complicated with more options and paths to select from. Our recommendation is to get Cleansing Rush, which will be very helpful against enemies' status ailment attacks, specifically Mold enemies. After Cleansing Rush, pick up Retribution for extra Falter damage. From there, we will stay in both the left and middle lanes, since the right one is focused on Summon skills, but you won't unlock Summons until later in the game.
Best Talents for Mid Game

If you opted for the left lane, Decisive Step-Up activates the Keen perk after executions. This perk brings extra critical damage for a short duration. In the middle lane, Back Stab Recovery gives you some extra Power recovery when attacking enemies from the back.
No matter which lane you choose, all connect to Optimized Projectiles, which is in the center of the middle section of the tree. After getting that skill, continue to Avid Execution to increase execution range. Now, it is the moment to select a path direction again; however, we now recommend switching to the right side of the tree.
Best Talents for Late Game

By the late sections of the game, you will have been given some opportunities to select Summon abilities. If you haven't, we recommend using a Reset Item and activating at least one. Why, you ask? Well, for the last skill on the right side of the tree: Team Morale. With this skill, Dylan takes 5% less damage for every Summon on the battlefield. If you still need extra protection, go back to the beginning of the right side lane and find the Guarded Formation skill, which can be acquired early.
Most lanes at the end of the tree will focus on the Command ability, one that will be acquired by defeating the last Resonant in the game. After unlocking Team Morale and Command, go earn the last skill on the left side, Resilient. This skill reduces damage by 25% while the Command ability is active. Resilient can be a great skill to go for if you are doing side content after finishing the game, or if you are going for a New Game Plus run.
