Control Resonant: Best First Quests & How to Start Them

Control Resonant: Best First Quests & How to Start Them

Written by Walter Xavier - 22nd September 2026

Just like its predecessor, Control Resonant allows you to explore several zones and tackle some objectives at your own pace. However, this new entry takes things further, with open-world zones instead of the halls of an FBC building.

When you arrive at the Watchtower after the initial quest in the Downtown zone, additional zones will unlock, each with its own quests, collectibles, and enemies. There are three quests in particular that reward some of the best abilities in the early stages of the game. In this guide, we'll show you which quests they are and how to unlock them.

In Control Resonant, Dylan Faden is looking for his sister and the protagonist of the previous game, Jesse Faden. Looking for Jesse has her own main storyline in Resonant, expanding across multiple quests that reward unique traversal abilities.

How to Unlock The Incursion Fault Quest

The Incursion Fault is one of those Jesse quests. This quest will unlock by automatically progressing early in the story. However, other of Jesse's quests will unlock only when you are close to the area. A vision of Jesse will appear, signaling the quest's proximity. For this one, head to the West Incursion Zone.

At the West Incursion Zone, go to the Parking Garage, and while you already have the quest unlocked, new objectives will appear in that area. After completing the objectives and quest, you will unlock the ability Shift. This ability will allow you to align Dylan to the many Gravity Anomalies the game has to offer, giving you the opportunity to reach new places in the city.

Enemy level in this area of the West Incursion Zone is 2.

The West Incursion Zone Resonant

While at the West Incursion Zone, why not take on the Zone's Resonant? Defeating Resonant bosses is yet another storyline in the game. These quests allow you to earn combat abilities instead of traversal ones.

How to Unlock The West Incursion Zone Resonant Quest

You can unlock The West Incursion Zone Resonant quest when you arrive at the Watchtower. In Zoe's office, there will be many prompts that allow you to look at an area and speak with Zoe about them. Activating these interactions will unlock the Resonant's quest for each zone. Select the West Incursion side and speak with Zoe to unlock The West Incursion Zone Resonant quest.

At the West Incursion, head to the Theater Hall to confront the Resonant of that zone. After defeating The Dancer Resonant, you can choose between two abilities: Push, which allows you to send enemies flying backwards, including from ledges and into hazards for more damage. Or Ground Slam, an ability that allows you to slam enemies from above.

We recommend Push if you need additional help in combat. Push allows you to throw even heavy enemies off ledges, doing great fall damage, or eliminating them if thrown to the void. If you prefer to have an easier time exploring the city, Ground Slam allows you to break some unique doors that open only with combat abilities like this one.

The Subway Fault

The Subway Fault is yet another Jesse quest. This one is not tied to story progression, and as mentioned, it needs to be unlocked by exploration when close to the quest area.

This quest takes place in the Evacuation Zone, specifically in the Railyard Street Station. We recommend doing the previously mentioned quests before this one, since it will benefit you to have those abilities both for the traversal of the quest and against enemies in the zone.

Completing The Subway Fault will reward you with the Reach ability. This ability is one of the most needed in the traversal of the city, since it allows you to use Reach Points. Reach Points are those glowing bubbles that you've seen across the buildings. These can now be reached with the press of a button, allowing you to traverse the city faster and reach new places.

Enemy level on this side of the Evacuation Zone is 4.
