Control Resonant: How to Beat the Dancer

Written by Grace Black - 22nd September 2026

In Control Resonant, there are bosses scattered around the world map called Resonants. These bosses can be found at different locations (some of which are hidden behind puzzles); each one has a different string of attacks in battle and gives a choice of rewards after being defeated. If you're wondering where to find the Dancer boss and how to beat it in Control Resonant, then this guide can walk you through the process and go over which choice you should consider for your reward.

Where to Find the Dancer in Control Resonant

To find the Dancer Resonant, you must first make your way over to the Theatre Hall in West Incursion Zone, which has been included in the map screenshot below.

First, head up through the door and then collect whatever loot is lying around in the side rooms. Then make your way forward towards the stage, and progress through the rip in the stage curtain. This will now place you on the stage, where the Dancer awaits under stage lighting. As you approach, it will spring to life, and the battle will start immediately, so be ready.

The Dancer is a Resonant that uses very aggressive melee attacks, with the main two being a double-handed attack where the Dancer stretches its arms out to hit in an almost pouncing motion. The other is a spinning dash where its arms can slice you for damage, and this one can be used when stationary or as the Dancer dashes across the arena. There is also a lunge/pounce that can be used to start a melee hit combo, so don't stand in one spot for too long.

The Dancer also moves in rhythms with dance-like motions (shocking, I know), so there are little moments between these aggressive attacks where it will pause or wind up for the next one. You can use these slim windows to get some of your own damage in, as every little bit counts towards withering the boss down as a whole.

When The Dancer opts for a stationary spin, you can also use your traversal movement to quickly reposition yourself behind it and hit an attack. This is particularly effective if you have the spear with the held constant attack, enabling a quick way to chip away a chunk of health and apply some falter.

Rinse and repeat while keeping your own health as your main priority. The Dancer is very aggressive, so it's better to play a patience game if needed. Use your dodges appropriately and wait for openings to attack, and you will finally get The Dancer weak enough to get the falter kill on this boss. The stage lights will flicker off to indicate the opportunity, leaving The Dancer surrounded in blue light.

The Dancer Phase 2 Fight Encore

After bringing The Dancer down, the fight should be over. But in classic performer fashion, the Dancer reawakens for a phase two of the fight, giving you an encore...because, of course.

For the most part, The Dancer's attack cycle will remain the same, but it will have the addition of one new change. When The Dancer multiplies its limbs/bones, it will launch itself into the air and send two "puppets" from the audience and fling them towards you, before dashing directly down to the ground again.

If you have the ranged summon/explosive attack, then this can be a good way to continue chipping away at the Dancer's health during this attack, as it can shoot at the boss much easier in repetition than you can maintain attack range from the sky.

The more you destroy The Dancer's health, the brighter the spotlight you both will get. Once again, once the spotlight turns off and the stage flashes blue, you can falter The Dancer - this time for good. Complete the kill, and the fight will now be over, enabling you to choose your reward.

Which Power Should You Choose After Beating the Dancer?

After defeating The Dancer, you will get to make a choice between two potential new abilities tied to your R1/RB button. The two choices are as listed below:

  • Push: Send enemies flying backward. Push them off ledges and into hazards for more damage. 50-100 damage, 5-15 falter, 200 power cost.
  • Ground Slam: Slams enemies on the ground. The amount of damage can be boosted if executed from higher up. 230-460 damage, 20-30 falter, 630 power cost.

The best choice will depend on the combination/build you are currently running. Push works well when you have a series of range attacks, as it can help maintain space and let you reposition enemies between attacks.

However, I have also really enjoyed using Ground Slam, as my go-to is usually an aggressive DPS-ish melee combo. Ground Slam works brilliantly as a fight opener, especially as you can use your double jump and air boost to increase the damage of the hit.

That said, though, Push can also come in handy for melee builds on the chance that you need to reposition yourself on a whim. You can use it to create distance between yourself and the enemy and adjust accordingly.

Keeping this in mind, if you want bigger damage impact and combo openers/finishers, go for Ground Slam. If you'd rather have a weaker attack in terms of damage but opt for more versatile use and utility in a fight, then choose Push.
