We do not currently have any information on the physical Collector’s Edition outside of this quote from Blizzard: "Later this year we will announce our retail-only Collector’s Edition, featuring art, music, and lore to celebrate the release of Battle for Azeroth".

Let’s talk about what you really want to know, Allied Races.

Allied Races

With the pre-purchase of either Digital version, you get the ability to unlock and play the 4 allied races now which are:

The Zandalari Trolls and the Dark Iron Dwarves will not be unlocked until the expansion as they are part of the story for BFA.

You will need to meet the requirements in order to get the quest instructing you to go see your faction leader at your embassy.

  • You need a level 110 on the server for the allied race faction you want to create.
  • If you want to unlock both Horde and Alliance allied races you will need to have a maxed character for both.
  • Each of the Allied Race unlocking quests is tied to the reputation and storyline achievements for that faction. Do not worry, this is account bound.

Allied Race Breakdown

Nightborne - Horde

  • Exalted with The Nightfallen
  • Insurrection achievement

Highmountain Tauren - Horde

Void Elves – Alliance

Lightforged Draenei - Alliance

The reward for unlocking each Allied Race outside of having more character creation options also includes that race's mount that you can use on other characters of that faction. Honestly, this alone was enough for me to unlock even the Allied Races I likely will not play. Free is free.

Once you have unlocked the Allied Race of your heart’s desire, you can create a new character and start leveling.

A few things to note:

  • Each allied race has its own heritage armor, you must level the character from its starting level which is 20 to 110. Once you do that you get an achievement and you unlock that races armor.
  • If you are not interested in the armor but rather just want to race change a current character to the allied race you unlocked, you can do that as well.

I also did a video highlighting which you can check out here:
