Boss Strategy
This guide focuses on the Heroic Shadowclaw encounter in Darkshore but also works for the normal version.
Minis in Shadowclaw’s army
- Darkspear Troll - Serpent Sting
- Execute - Overpower
- Gryphon Rider - Odyn’s Fury
- Harpies - Infectious Swipes
- Huntress - Elven Might
- Prowler - Predatory Instincts

Other minis and map mechanics
Shadowclaw patrols around the map clockwise. Your minis will move around the circle counter-clockwise.
Shadowclaw starts the fight with a Prowler and a Mountaineer. These minis do not respawn.
In Heroic, Shadowclaw also has two Darkspear Trolls with Serpent Sting talent that are in Stealth and patrol the same path as Shadowclaw. They respawn at the top-left cave entrance after 30 seconds if killed.
Shadowclaw:
- 6500 health
- Stealth
- Bite Hit: 180 Physical damage, 1 stack of poison (Heroic only), 1.2 seconds attack speed, 120 degree arc, 5 radius, cannot hit flying minis at all
- Charge: +350% movement speed for 10 seconds, 20 range
General strategy
There are lots of minis coming at you at the start, and the star player to help you survive is Whelp Eggs. Place Whelp Eggs under the bridge, so that when the Eggs are popped, the Whelps pop up above the bridge: they are now on high ground and can shoot at the targets below without taking hits in return.
Send an army towards the left so that they will meet Shadowclaw roughly around the bridge on its first lap. Reinforce the army with more Whelp Eggs. If all goes well, Shadowclaw will fall already on the first lap, but if it gets away, defend for a while and send another army to meet it in the same place next time. Dire Batlings can see through Stealth and may be able to help you attack Shadowclaw better.
