Boss Strategy

This guide focuses on the Heroic Murkdeep encounter in Darkshore but also works for the normal version.

Other minis and map mechanics

Murkdeep starts the fight with two Murloc Tidehunters and frequently spawns more of them. The first one spawns immediately at 3:30, followed by another at 3:25. These pairs then repeat every 25 seconds: at 3:05 and 3:00, then at 2:40 and 2:35, and so on.

Every time a Murloc Tidehunter dies, Murkdeep becomes more angry through Fury Shout. In Heroic, the effect is permanent and stacks enough for Murkdeep to practically kill anything in seconds.

Murkdeep:

  • 5400 health
  • Aggro range 9
  • Sword Cleave: 200 Physical damage, melee range, 120 degrees arc, 4.5 radius, 1.3 seconds attack speed, cannot hit flying minis
  • Dagger Throw: 75 Physical damage, 6.5 range, 2.0 seconds attack speed
  • Fury Shout: +50% damage, +50% attack speed, duration 300 seconds, max stacks 12 (Normal:duration 5 seconds, max stacks 3)

General strategy

Take the Tower in the middle to secure the middle lane and the gold vein. Push to the Tower from the left at the start.

Send a Meat Wagon or a Plague Farmer with the Splashing Pumpkins talent through the middle lane: they can shoot at Murkdeep without getting hit in return.

Alternatively, you can also wear Murkdeep down by sending small troops from both sides, but using long-range units through the middle is generally easier.
