Tier List Disclaimers

This tier list will be attempting to rank the strength of each ability, however, the Plunderstorm gamemode is relatively well balanced, so a lot of which abilities are best will change quite significantly based on your own preference and skill level with some of them. For example, some abilities, such as ones that require you to aim or take time before doing damage, will be significantly worse if you aren’t getting the most out of them.

The ability rankings are based on our own preferences, with the hope that for newer players it will give them a good idea of which abilities they could start trying to use, until they have found which abilities work best for them. We have more build suggestions in our Best Builds for Plunderstorm 2025 guide.

We ranked based partly on the assumption that all abilities are at an epic rank, however, some abilities such as utility can stand out even if they are at a lower rank.

We are basing this mostly off of duo, but with consideration mixed in for solo, as the ability to stun or prepare setups when playing duo can drastically impact how good certain abilities are.

Plunderstorm Ability Ranking Explained

In terms of how the Plunderstorm abilities were ranked, here is the criteria used for each tier.

S Tier - Abilities with the highest damage output or utility that helps increase your chance to win fights or more effectively avoid fights that you are not ready for in order to place higher.

A Tier - Abilities that have high damage output, but that are slightly behind the S tier abilities when it comes to either damage, ease of use or utility.

B Tier - More niche abilities that are powerful when used in the right combinations or in the right hands, but tend to be lacking in at least one category relative to abilities higher up in the list.

C Tier - In the final tier we have abilities that we feel are below average when it comes to throughput, and often are not options that we would pick to replace other abilities.

Special Notes:

  • Rime Arrow being in S tier is with the consideration of it being max rank. Keep in mind it feels exceptionally weak at lower ranks due to the long cooldown.
  • Celestial Barrage in S tier is due to the insane range of the ability making it a useful tool to prevent people from restoring health, while also doing very good damage up close when cast for a short duration.
  • Aura Zealotry does very good damage but requires other abilities to keep other players locked in the consecration.
  • Call Galefeather is very versatile and can be used to engage or disengage, however, we feel other skills are better at both.
  • Void Tear can be used to juke opponents or set up abilities such as earthbreaker but it requires a lot of coordination.
