Control Resonant: Best Combo Finisher Unlock Order

Written by Walter Xavier - 25th September 2026

Control Resonant brings many elements to its melee action gameplay. These include different types of weapons, attack types, skills, and combos. One of the greatest features of this combat is that combos aren't exclusively attached to a single weapon.

In Resonant, you can choose among a variety of combos that you can combine with the primary weapons of your choice. These are known as Combo Finishers, and in this guide, we'll show you which to unlock first for a better combat experience.

How to Unlock Combo Finishers

Before getting into more combat, you need to know how to get the Combo Finishers. You can unlock them in the Gap with Living Shards. These Shards are special resources that you earn in different number of ways; you can get them as quest rewards, by buying them from the Ice Cream Truck Shop Vendors, or by opening boxes around the Open World.

Each Combo Finisher contains a small skill tree that adds additional buffs, and this can be acquired with other resources that you can find around the city, or by shopping from the truck Vendors as well. You can also reset the upgrades you've made in the Gap with a Reset Item. With this item, you can choose other abilities to try if the one you selected doesn't fit your playstyle.

Best First Combo Finisher

There are a variety of Combos you can select from, and thankfully the game doesn't lock you to just one. However, Living Shards and the upgrade resources are not that easy to come by, at least in the beginning to mid sections of the game. That is why we recommend focusing on a single Combo Finisher first.

Our recommendation for the starting finisher will be the Spin Edge. This combo is an attack of a continuous spin that can deal damage to multiple enemies. While at its basic element, this combo manages just a couple of spins; at its latest ability, it can spin indefinitely, which is a great advantage to Falter enemies and for getting those hits on the bosses.

Another great element of the Spin Edge is that it combines well with any of the Aberrant Forms. For the Cleave, this combo feels like a natural continuation of its attack. For the Strike, it adds the multiple-enemy damage that it lacks, while for the Glaive, it further complements the long-range attacks it brings.

Combo Finisher Effect Ultimate Ability
Spin Edge A continuous spin that deals Damage to all nearby enemies. Deathly Trajectory: Dylan can keep spinning forever.

Best Secondary Combo Finisher

For a secondary option for Combo Finishers, we recommend something that offers the opposite of the Spin Edge: the Concussive Beatdown. This combo offers speed attacks that deal Damage and even higher Falter. If you want a combo that helps you get executions, this will be a good one.

Like with the Spin Edge, the Concussive Beatdown goes well with any of the Aberrant Forms, but especially with Strike. Since Strike already uses quick close combat attacks, this combo will flawlessly continue that fast attack flow.

Combo Finisher Effect Ultimate Ability
Concussive Beatdown A few quick strikes that deal Damage and large amounts of Falter. Paranatural Knockdown: The last attack in the Concussive Beatdown combo sends out a shockwave, damaging and pushing back nearby enemies.

Other Combo Finishers

As mentioned, we recommend that you focus on one Combo Finisher, two at most, for the early to mid-game. If you are in a place where you feel comfortable continuing to unlock new Combos and have the resources, then which ones to get will depend on your playstyle.

With the Uppercut Surge, you can lift enemies into the air for extra damage, but it's an ability that the Cleave already brings if you are using it. The Wide Edge helps in keeping enemies away. Split Pivot is an attack that becomes a circular blade, but Split Orbit becomes something similar while also flying around, doing damage to even more enemies.

Combo Finisher Effect Ultimate Ability
Uppercut Surge Launches enemies and applies Lifted. Imminent Knockout: Adds 10% Critical Chance.
Wide Edge A powerful, wide attack that deals massive Damage and pushes enemies away. Savage Accumulation: Adds 3% Falter for every enemy hit with the Primary Combo.
Split Pivot An attack that becomes a circular blade that causes Damage and Falter for a short time. Power Game: Adds 20% Falter to the spinning blades.
Split Orbit A short-range attack that becomes a blade that flies around Dylan for a short duration. Limitless Intensity: The Damage and Falter done by Split Orbit increase over time.
