From the very start of your adventure in Vale Sangora it's pretty clear that Coen has one clear love interest. The local witch, herbalist, and uncover witch, Anca.
It probably won't shock you that, if you play your cards right with her throughout your adventure, you can romance Anca. But there are certain quests, dialogue options, and choices that need to be made to make that happen.
So, to help you get your end away, and become the toy boy of this older woman, here is a guide on how to romance Anca.
Pre-Requisites To Anca Romance Side Quest
Anca and Coen during 'Echoes of the Silenced Bells'
To romance Anca, there is a quest that you need to complete before unlocking the quest that ultimately leads to this romantic encounter.
You will first need to head to the Inn near St Tyna's after the events of the prologue and complete the quest 'Echoes of Silenced Bells'.
As far as we can tell, there is nothing specific you need to choose to ensure romance later down the line. So, you can choose to have Anca do Leonica's Ritual, or destroy the notes. It doesn't seem to matter.
The only thing you mustn't do throughout all encounters with Anca is stop hinting at romance. So anytime anything flirtatious pops up, be sure to choose that option.
Finding The Font Of Life
Before entering the ruins during 'The Font of Life'
After completing this quest, you'll need to go away for at least a day to allow Anca to study her books. But eventually, she will discover The Font Of Life. A pool of powerful magic that could be a game-changer if the pair of you could find it.
As coincidence would have it, it turns out this magical miracle is just around the corner in the mountains, and when you're ready, you can set off.
During this quest, the only thing you need to do to ensure romance at the end is to tell Anca that you love her during the portion where you reach a chasm she cannot cross.

You would think that the end decision at the Font would have an effect, but in reality, romance is on the table regardless of what you choose.
For scope, choosing her offers no reward. Choosing yourself unlocks the Font of Life skill on your character tree, and choosing to destroy the Font reveals a legendary pair of Ancient Greaves below the bowl of blood.
Once you have gathered all your loot from the quest, speak to Anca and travel back to the Inn.
Back At The Inn
A passionate kiss between Coen and Anca
Once back at the Inn, you are really the only one who can pump the brakes on things getting hot and heavy now. You will be able to pick options like 'Let's forget about all of this' or 'Let's stay friends.'
But to assure romance, you want to pick the following options:
- There's a conversation we need to finish
- I meant what I said
- Screw decency, I want you, too
- Leaves me hungry for more
It's also worth noting that if you didn't say 'I Love You' back in the ancient ruins, you will have a second opportunity back at the inn. You need to do this if you want to make the romance happen.
This will lead to a passionate time on-screen with Anca and Coen, which will round off this quest and ensure that Anca and Coen are more than just friends forevermore.
