How to Farm Lead in Subnautica 2: Easy Early Game Route

Lead is genuinely one of the trickier early resources to find in Subnautica 2. Forget poking around the shallow reefs near your Lifepod; there's nothing there. You need to actually commit to a swim, but trust us, this spot is worth it.

Where To Find Lead In Subnautica 2

There's a couple of great early game locations where you can find lead that we'll run through.

Finding Lead At The Shipwreck

Head northeast from the Lifepod for around 350 meters, and you'll clock a massive wrecked ship. Don't stop at the front, though; swim around to the far side and drop down beneath it. That's where the Lead is hiding, scattered across the ocean floor around and under the hull.

Tip: Consider placing a Beacon down at this location so you're not hunting for it every time.

Finding Lead At The Ravine

A large lead node, requiring the Static Resonator to break down.

If you find the wreck a bit much early on, there's a ravine on the way there at around the 280 meter mark. Look for a blue natural current pulling downward, swim into it, and it'll drag you down to some Lead deposits along the walls and floor. Decent in a pinch, but honestly, the shipwreck has it beat for sheer quantity, it's also much less hostile.

A Few Things Before You Go

Bump your oxygen up before making this trip if you can; you'll be deep and you'll be spending a while looting. Chuck some Distraction Flares in your inventory, too, since there are predatory fish roaming the area that will absolutely ruin your day mid-collection.

The small loose Lead chunks you can just grab by hand, so your first run will just be to collect those chunks. Get enough to craft your Sonic Resonator, then come back and use it to break the big deposits.

What's Lead Used For In Subnautica 2?

Mainly the Sonic Resonator early on, but you'll also need it for a few recipes down the line. Good to keep a stockpile topped up.
