Phantom Blade Zero: Where To Find The Hound (Dahuang)

Phantom Blade Zero is full of side quests that are so easy to miss, but can prove to be lucrative if you talk to every NPC, pick up the task, and see it through to its conclusion. Not all the quests are narratively dense, nor are they all very taxing, but in the case of Dahuang, you'll get a decent reward for very little effort.

This quest will see you attempt to find a lost dog when you reach the town of Pangzhen. But it's easier said than done with all those winding streets and back alleys. Not to mention, there's no map marker to help you find this mutt. So, if you need a hand, stick with us.

How To Start Dahuang

You'll actually pick this quest up before you even set foot in Pangzhen, as this is given by a flower-faced NPC in the Village of Lu. This NPC is found right at the end of the Village of Lu in terms of natural progression, as you'll find them closest to the Survivor's Courtyard Bell, just after you deal with the Engine Art Master.

In this area, left of the bell, you'll find a building where, inside, sitting on a bed, you'll find a Flower-faced NPC who will inadvertently you to find their dog, as they ask the Lady of the Veil to spare their little furry friend.

You'll then get the story item, the Hunter's Dog Bell, and the quest will populate your menu. However, you'll have no map marker to go off, even when you get to Pangzhen.

Where Is The Hound?

When you get to Pangzhen, you can put your head down and explore for quite some time without needing to worry about this dog. Only when you reach the Pond of the Fading Song Bell will you need to switch on and go searching.

From this bell, you'll come to a house not far from the bell marked on the map. Head backward from the area where you fight Gu Wanyue, and you'll want to head inside a nearby building with a sizable back garden, where you'll find the dog, long dead and clearly not truly spared by the Lady of the Veil.

When you interact with the Golden Hound, you'll gain approximately 10,000 Dust for completing this quest, and the quest will conclude there and then. So, while there's no fancy new accessory or weapon as a reward here, getting 10K Dust just for popping into a nearby building as you explore is still worth the effort.
