Blaze can be found once you reach the city of Pangzhen. First, you will need to arrive through the Smuggler's Tunnel, make your way through the street, descend your way down the rooftops battling enemies along the way, and pause at the South Gate Bridge Bell.

Blaze will be found standing at the top of the staircase on the path forward. The map screenshot above showcases both the bell and Blaze's locations for reference.

There's one thing you need to do before heading up to fight him, though. You need to open the chest by this bell, as it has the Flameward accessory - a handy item that can be useful in this fight, as mentioned in the loadout section below.

Here are a few loadout choices that make this fight more approachable and some key things to watch out for when fighting Blaze.

Best Loadout for Blaze

By now, you have more than enough weapons to customize your loadout to your liking a bit. However, there are some clear items that stand out for this encounter for their strong survivability against the heavy damage that Blaze dishes out.

In terms of weapons, Outlaw Warblade / Fiend Saws / Hunter's Chain Sickle / Agarwood Prayer Beads is one of the suitable builds.

  • By now, Outlaw Warblade is likely levelled up quite a bit, as it has been one of the frontrunner weapons throughout the early game. The life steal it offers is great for your survivability; you can use it to interrupt Blaze or make the most of a stagger, draining him for a chunk of health while restoring your own.
  • Fiend Saws are a new weapon you will have picked up from the fight with Mu Xioakui, Jade Dancer, & Iron Fiend. It has powerful base damage, quick strikes, can affect enemy HP through fiend-aura eruptions, and offers access to Fiend Form - a powerful mode where your attacks are unblockable and deal increased damage to enemies who are staggered.
  • Hunter's Chain Sickle is used to get a few extra hits in when dodging Blaze's AOE attacks or can be used to hit multiple enemies once his summons pop up.
  • Agarwood Prayer Beads are a rather situational Phantom Edge, but in this case, they can be handy if you'd rather not deal with Blaze's extra summons. Just summon your own minions to fight them for you and keep your focus on Blaze himself.

Aside from that, there is a key accessory that you should equip if you have not already - the Flameward you just picked up earlier. It significantly reduces damage from fire attacks, giving a big improvement to your survivability for the Blaze fight.

Phase One - Blaze, Shadow Warden Captain Fight Tips

  • During most of the first phase, Blaze will use his weapon for a main combo, followed by a fiery slam. Time your dodge when he leaps for the slam to apply massive stagger.

  • If he summons additional enemies, you have options. You can summon your own extras with Agarwood Prayer Beads, or you can use Hunter's Chain Sickle to hit everyone in range. A handy tip is also that if you focus fire one of Blaze's extra enemies first while they are both low until you get an insta-kill prompt, letting you chain executions.

Phase Two - Blaze, Phosphor Consciousness Fight Tips

  • Save your Outlaw Warblade Power Surge as a backup in case you take some of this damage, as you can use it to restore your health.

  • Blaze grows much more aggressive in this phase, bringing out massive AOE fire attacks. watch for green cracks on the ground, as they will turn into circle that burst with flame.

  • If Blaze creates a giant circle of fire in the sky, step back from it. After a delay, this will send a wave of fire crashing down in this outline. You can also jump over the outline as it crashes down to avoid damage.

  • Last, but most importantly: Look to perfect dodge every single one of Blaze's red flash grabs above everything else. Blaze has a grab where he blows fire over you, and it will one-shot kill you if you let yourself get hit. Prioritize these dodges over putting in extra damage, as one wrong button can ruin the entire fight.

Blaze Fight Rewards
