Midnight Pre-Patch Overview

Midnight Pre-Patch Overview

Written by Roguery - 21st January 2026

The Midnight Pre-Patch has a lot of new features; ranging from new talents to a new event: with mounts, decor, transmog and pet rewards. We have put together a quick overview of all of the things happening in the Pre-Patch.

Demon Hunter Updates

Demon hunter is definitely eating well this patch, with a brand new specialization Devourer, a new hero talent spec for Vengeance, and a new class race combination of Void Elf Demon Hunters.

Devourer Specialization

Devourer is a new specialization for Demon Hunter. It is very unique and is unlocked upon logging in. It has access to 2 hero talent-trees: Scarred or the new Annihilator hero-spec. If you are looking for more information on how to play Devourer check our Devourer Class Guide.

Vengeance Updates

Vengeance Demon Hunter is also receiving an update to their hero talents. They will no longer have access to the Fel-Scarred hero-spec, and will instead get access to the new Annihilator Talents. If you are looking to pick up Vengeance in the Pre-patch take a look at our Vengeance Class Guide.

Annihilator

This hero specialisation seems to be leaning heavily into the Void, changing several talents from Fel to Void versions, and raining down void meteors. For more information read either the Devourer Class Guide or the Vengeance Class Guide.

Void Elf Demon Hunters

If you are looking to start a brand new Demon Hunter you now have 3 options instead of just 2. Horde will still have to stick with Blood Elf, but Alliance will have the choice of either Night Elf or Void Elf Demon Hunters once they have completed a short quest chain. For more Information on how to complete the quest line you can check our How to Unlock Void Elf Demon Hunter Guide.

General Class Updates

Nearly every class and specialization has had a large amount of changes. We recommend taking a look at our Class Guides so that you can get a head start on all these new changes.

Player Housing Updates

Player Housing has received a few updates alongside a large amount of new decor for you to collect. This includes the long awaited Night Elf and Blood Elf exterior housing options.

In addition you can also upgrade your house to level 9, which will increase your interior budget and unlock new types of rooms.

Endeavours

Endeavours are neighbourhood wide events where you can collect Community Coupons and work as a community and unlock new themed decor. We have a full overview of Endeavours in our Housing Endeavours Overview Guide.

If you are looking for what you can purchase for Community Coupons you should check out our Housing Endeavours Decor Vendor Guide.

Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event

The Twilight Ascension Pre-Patch Event starts on the 27th / 28th of January and will run until the Midnight Launch. There are new mounts, transmog and pets to collect.

The two new mounts available are the Retrained Skyrazor, which we have a dedicated guide for in our Retrained Skyrazor Mount Guide; and the Light-Forged Mechsuit, which we have a guide for in our Light-Forged Mechsuit Mount Guide.

We also have a guide for all of the cool cosmetic items you can purchase from the Pre-Patch in our Twilight's Blade Insignia Vendor Guide.

Winds of Mysterious Fortune

The Winds of Mysterious Fortune will be returning. The Winds of Mysterious Fortune is a buff which increases your experience and reputation while you are in the Dragon Isles or Khaz Algar. This buff will be perfect to finish off your world-soul searching meta achievement, which we have a guide for in our Geargrinder Mk. 11 Mount Guide.

The Pre-Patch is a great time to try out classes, and once the Winds of Mysterious Fortune hits you will be leveling alts even faster than usual. We hope this overview was helpful letting you know all of the things happening in the pre-patch.
