Each of the weapons has their own role to play, and can be effective, fun, or devastating depending on the task at hand.

If you're itching to get your hands on each of the weapons to try them out, here's how you can unlock them all.

All Weapons in Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom: The Dark Ages has 16 unique weapons that are unlocked by playing the campaign.

Combat Shotgun

combat shotgun

The Combat Shotgun is available from the start of the game. It's your go-to for close-quarters combat and clearing out fodder demons early on. With Sentinel Shrine upgrades, it becomes a reliable tool for farming armor shards using the Incendiary mod.

Power Gauntlet

power gauntlet

The Power Gauntlet is your first melee weapon, and it's unlocked in Chapter 1 during the "Cover the Escape!" objective in the Village of Khalim. You'll get it as part of the story while clearing the village. It's a fast, light melee weapon great for chaining combos and picking up ammo drops.

Shredder

Shredder

This one is also unlocked in Chapter 1, during the same "Cover the Escape!" mission as the Gauntlet. You'll pick it up before being tasked to destroy demonic portals. It's a rapid-fire weapon designed for mid-range combat and taking out masses of smaller enemies.

Shield Saw

shield saw

The Shield Saw is unlocked in Chapter 2, Hebeth. The base shield is available from the start, but the Shield Saw upgrade is picked up later. It lets you use your shield offensively to stun enemies and break armor.

Accelerator

accelerator

Unlocked in Chapter 2 during the "Defend Hebeth" objective. This is essentially a toned-down, scaled down version of the plasma rifle that's fast and can quickly overheat energy shields, causing them to explode. You'll get it as part of the main mission.

Pulverizer

Pulverizer

The Pulverizer is found in Chapter 4, Sentinel Barracks. It's located in the starting area and becomes available during the "Defend the Barracks" objective. This weapon is great for taking out groups of weaker enemies quickly at close to medium-close range.

Impaler

Impaler

Also found in Chapter 4 after dropping down a hole in the barracks. The weapon pod is hard to miss. The Impaler is a powerful precision weapon ideal for sniping high-value targets with headshots. No point in trying to be a marksman, though, as the weapon actually has quite limited range unlike the similar-but-different railgun from the Quake series.

Cycler

cycler

You'll get the Cycler in Chapter 5 during the "Break the Cathedral Forcefield" objective. It's inside the third Hell Carrier. A solid choice for mid-range damage, it’s especially effective against shielded enemies and can be used to zap and eliminate large masses of enemies once fully upgraded.

Super Shotgun

super shotgun

Unlocked in Chapter 5 after your first encounter with Enforcers. Like its iterations in other Doom games, It's brutally effective at close range and one of the highest-damage weapons in the game. The Super Shotgun uses up two shells per shot.

Flail

flail

Picked up in Chapter 6, just before entering the main battlefield, where it's found in a weapon pod before the big gate. The Flail is a melee weapon with an impressive AOE and is highly capable of generating armour shards.

Chainshot

chainshot

Unlocked in Chapter 6 during the mission to destroy the Gore Portal by killing cultists. It's a chargeable single-shot weapon that deals anything from light to heavy damage depending on how you use it, with a rate of fire matching your usage. That being said, it’s especially good for tougher targets — especially armoured ones.

Grenade Launcher

grenade launcher

This is found in Chapter 8 during the objective to reach the mine entrance. You'll pick it up after descending the elevator. It's a versatile explosive weapon useful for mid-range engagements against masses of mid-level targets.

Rocket Launcher

rocket launcher

Unlocked in Chapter 10 near the front gate of the first area during the objective to breach it. This series mainstay delivers insane damage and is especially effective against armoured enemies and large groups.

Ravager

ravager

The Ravager is unlocked in Chapter 12 inside the Sentinel Command Station. You will find the weapon pod near a console. It fires a focused stream of rapid-fire bone fragments and its rate of fire increases as the fire button is held down, making it the perfect choice for sustained firefights.

Ballistic Force Crossbow (BFC)

ballistic force crossbow bfc

The BFC is found in Chapter 14 after completing the objective to deactivate three Stasis Emitters. It's a heavy-hitting explosive weapon that can clear entire groups or deal major damage to bosses. If you’ve played other Doom games, you’ll know what this thing can do.

Dreadmace

dreadmace

The Dreadmace is acquired in Chapter 15 while you are in the process of trying to activate the portal. Following the quest marker will lead you directly to this heavy melee weapon, which offers high burst damage with the caveat of a lengthy recharge time.

It's worth noting that as you play Doom: The Dark Ages and complete the main objectives, you'll unlock every weapon as you progress through the chapters. So don't worry about missing out on any of these weapons, and focus on sending the demons of hell back to where they belong.
