Shield Saw
The Shield Saw is the primary line of defense in Doom: The Dark Ages, introducing a new mechanic that’s both essential and highly powerful. It excels at crowd control and parrying, capable of handling almost any attack with the right timing. When mastered, it can make you nearly unkillable. This shield isn’t just for defense — it can be a potent weapon, particularly against fodder demons. Its immense power and utility make it a must-use in every player's arsenal, and with no major drawbacks, it may even be considered overpowered.
Where To Find It
Players will get the Shield Saw at the start of Chapter 2 (Hebeth).
Upgrades
TIER 1: Retaliation: Partying Hell Surge attacks cause you to release a strong shockwave that causes demons to Heavy Falter, opening them up for a beatdown.
TIER 2: Power Surge: Hitting an energy shield with the Shield Throw will make your Shield Saw bounce around to nearby demons, allowing you to hit multiple targets with one throw.
TIER 3: Extended Edge : Increases the range of your Shield Throw, letting you hit more fodder from farther away.
TIER 4: Steadfast: The Shield Saw recovers faster after taking damage. It recovers even quicker if it breaks, so that you can stay on defense with less downtime, and parrying becomes less scary.
TIER 5: Harvester: Ripping and tearing through multiple fodder demons with Shield Throw powers up your next Shield Charge, dealing more damage to the main target.
