Guardian Remembrance Guide – Elden Ring: Nightreign

Written by The Old One - 6th June 2025

The Guardian’s Remembrance questline is one of the most lore-rich arcs in Elden Ring: Nightreign, unlocking not only a striking alternate skin but also new relics and hidden truths about the Guardian’s cursed origin. Most of the lore is available in the Journal. We will only cover the chapters that have Remembrances.

To begin the Remembrances, you must first unlock Chapter 4. This is done by collecting Memory Fragments, which are guaranteed drops from defeating Night Lords during expeditions. Once you've gathered enough, Chapter 4 becomes accessible at the Roundtable Hold.

Chapter 4 – The Bound Golem

The chapter begins with a surprise confrontation. Raider appears at the Roundtable and warns you cryptically about the curse affecting your weapon.

He offers no further answers, forcing you to seek out the Iron Menial, the Ironkeeper, who tends to ancient knowledge. The Iron Menial, now marked with an exclamation point on the map, sends you to hunt a dormant Guardian Golem hidden in the cliffs of Limfeld.

To locate the Golem, join an expedition and explore the bottom-left quadrant of the map. The Golem can be found sleeping near a cliff, but remains invulnerable until you interact with it.

This is a relatively easy boss fight. Target its legs, use elevated ground to avoid its charges, and be patient. Upon victory, you’ll earn a Stone Stake — a forgotten relic once used to imprison cursed weapons. Returning this to the Iron Menial earns you Volume Two of a mysterious tome. End the chapter by touching the remembrance light back at the Hold.

Chapter 6 – The Eerie Charm

This chapter introduces a new figure: the Spectral Merchant.

He appears in the Roundtable Hold and sells cursed relics, most of which are unrelated to the storyline. After you speak to him as Guardian, he hands you the Eerie Charm. This relic corrupts your character, and as you approach the expedition table again, you collapse mid-animation. The Iron Menial and Recluse intervene, removing the charm and nursing you back to health.

After you recover, a new prompt appears over the Spectral Merchant. Confronting him now allows you to execute him. Doing so gives you the Merchant’s Ledger, a disturbing record of forbidden trades. Give the ledger to the Iron Menial to complete the chapter.

Chapter 7 – The Demon Merchant

Chapter 7 sends you in search of a demon merchant mentioned in the ledger. You may encounter him randomly, but a guaranteed trigger is defeating the Equilibrium Beast Nightlord. After doing so, the demon merchant appears on Day 1 of your next expedition. He appears only once per run, and if ignored, he vanishes forever.

Approach him with at least 10,000 runes, and select the first dialogue option to purchase Volume Three of the tome. Deliver it to the Iron Menial and end the chapter.

Chapter 9 – The Weapon’s Secret

The final chapter takes place entirely in the Roundtable Hold. A mysterious note on the main table directs you to a glowing bookcase. Interacting with it reveals the truth: the weapon you've carried throughout the game was designed not to protect, but to destroy your people. You then confront Recluse in the garden.

She confesses to creating the weapon and hands you the Witch’s Brooch as a symbolic offering. While the game appears to present a choice, you are ultimately forced to forgive her, thus concluding the final remembrance.

Remembrance Rewards

rewards

Completing all chapters in the Guardian’s Remembrance questline unlocks two major rewards. First is the Witch’s Brooch, a unique relic that enhances resistance to afflictions tied to curses and madness. Second is a brand-new armored skin for the Guardian class — a visual transformation that reflects the character’s evolution from a cursed weapon wielder to a redeemed protector. While cosmetic, the skin serves as a badge of honor, worn only by those who have faced their past.
