There are 3 versions of the Sunkiller Sanctum delve:

  1. Core of the Problem
  2. Not What I Expected
  3. The Gravitational Effect

Sunkiller Sanctum Delve Overview

This section covers things relevant to all versions of Sunkiller Sanctum.

Delve Mechanic

Each version of Sunkiller Sanctum has its own delve mechanic.

Delve Mobs

These are the mobs in Sunkiller Sanctum which we feel are worth highlighting.

Domnaar Enforcers deal minor melee damage and cast a circle around them, which deals heavy damage if you stand in it.

Controlled Slaughterclaw are large elites, who deal fairly high physical damage. They have two abilities: Seismic Stomp which deals AoE damage and puts a damaging circle around everyone, forcing you to spread out; and Blood Frenzy which buffs the Slaughterclaws with 5% attack speed and 10% increased movement speed.

Shadowguard Phasehunter cast Corporal Cleave, which is a frontal cone that deals heavy damage.

Delve Boss

The boss for Sunkiller Sanctum is Esuritus, who is one of the easier delve bosses:

  • Crushing Rift summons a circle around Esuritus, dealing heavy damage to anyone who remains within it.
  • Singular Bolt is an interruptible cast which deals moderate damage. Valeera will interrupt most of these if you have her in damage specialization.
  • Periodically Esuritus will summon several void walker like mobs who channel an ability that summons falling debris. Make sure to not be hit by the debris as it deals heavy damage.
  • When Esuritus casts Gorge he will kill all the adds that are still alive and gain 5% increased damage for each one

Dealing with Esuritus is pretty simple. When adds are up, make sure to kill them as quickly as possible. This will prevent Gorge from going off, and the boss gaining 5% increased damage. It will also stop you from becoming overwhelmed by the debris circles. Do as much damage as you can while stepping out of the Crushing Rift, and let Valeera interrupt Singular Bolt if you have her as DPS.

Core of the Problem - Story Variant

The Core of the Problem version of Sunkiller Sanctum has its own delve mechanic, where several Singularity Portals have spawned around the delve. Clicking on a portal brings up a map where you can choose which other portal you want to go to, similar to the map you get when using a flightpoint, but you don’t need to unlock them and will instantly be able to use them.

The first step of Core of the Problem is to speak to Null-Theroist Selune, who will ask you to collect 50 Cores. You will also need to fill a progress bar by defeating enemies. The enemies are the ones that drop the cores, so while filling up the bar you will get the 50 cores. Once you have finished you can take on the boss.

Not What I Expected - Story Variant

In the Not What I Expected version of Sunkiller Sanctum, you speak to Darkmender Deremius Duskwalk, who’s had an idea to bring Lightbloom to the area in order to purge the void. This has backfired and now there are hostile Lightbloom and Void enemies all around the delve.

In order to fix this problem you need to click seven Lightbloom Crates scattered around the delve, activate the Sanctum Security Panel, and fill a progress bar by defeating enemies (both Lightbloom and Void Count).

While doing this you will encounter Displacement Portals. If you run through one of these you will create a displaced clone which will assist you in combat. It lasts for around 5 minutes and helps significantly.

Once you have done all three of these tasks, three Corrupted Umbraroots will spawn replacing the original boss. These are elite and fairly difficult, so pull them one by one. They have a few abilities:

  • Blooming Bile is a frontal cone which deals heavy damage if you remain inside it and summons several voidspawn adds.
  • Rotting Charge causes the Corrupted Umbraroot to charge after a short cast, dealing damage if you are hit and leaving behind a puddle.
  • Lightbloom Beam is an Interruptible cast that when finished turns into a channel on a single target that deals heavy damage.

The Gravitational Effect - Story Variant

The Gravitational Effect version of Sunkiller Sanctum has its own mechanic, where you will be able to fly in the air by clicking on Micro Singularities, which are floating in the air. They will drag you towards them, giving you the ability to swim through the air and stealth for a short duration.

To start the delve speak to Riftblade Maella. She will explain that you need to collect five Singularity Coils to break Esuritus’ shield. The Singularity Coils are in the air, and you collect them by using the Micro Singularity mechanic and just clicking the Coil Consoles when you get close to them.

Once you have done that you will start stage two, which is to defeat enemies to fill a progress bar and place the previously collected coils in stabilizers. We have included a map to show the location the boss spawns, so you can easily identify the best stabilizers to activate.

Once you have activated all five stabilizers the boss will activate and you can fight the boss.

Sunkiller Sanctum Sturdy Chest Locations

There are a total of 3 Sturdy Chests located within Sunkiller Sanctum. You don't need any particular version of Sunkiller Sanctum to be able to collect all of the Sturdy Chests. However, it is fastest to get around in the Core of the Problem version.
