Written by Roguery - 25th February 2026

Collegiate Calamity is one of the two Midnight delves inside of Silvermoon City, and is the place where Blood Elves learn magic. In this guide we will go over the Delve mechanic, Trash mobs and Boss mechanics, as well as all the story variations and Sturdy Chest Locations for Collegiate Calamity.

There are 3 versions of the Collegiate Calamity delve:

  1. Invasive Glow
  2. Academy Under Siege
  3. Faculty of Fear

The Collegiate Calamity Delve Entrance Location

Collegiate Calamity is located near the center of Silvermoon City, inside of a building.

Collegiate Calamity Delve Overview

This section covers things relevant to all versions of a delve. In Collegiate Calamity that is nothing, except for the map.

Delve Mobs

The mobs in Collegiate Calamity are different depending on what story variant you are in.

Delve Boss

Each story variant of Collegiate Calamity has its own boss, but in all boss fights you will get assistance from NPC students.

Invasive Glow - Story Variant

In the Invasive Glow version of Collegiate Calamity a group of Invasive Lightbloom enemies have taken over the college grounds.

Notable Mobs

Radiant Chloromancer are casters, who only cast a single interruptible ability called Blooming Shield, which puts a large absorb shield on them. We recommend interrupting this cast as often as you can, but prioritize interrupts on damaging abilities from other mobs first.

Thornblade are melee mobs with quite low damage. They have a single target ability called Bramble Blade, which applies a stacking damage over time disease. We recommend killing these as fast as possible, to prevent getting too many stacks, unless you easily dispel diseases.

Stumpspreader are large elite tree monsters they have one ability, Blooming Bile, which is a large frontal cone you can side step.

To start the delve Speak to Bloomkeeper Thornflare about pruning some weeds and pick up the Grimgrow Deweeder near him. If you pick this up you will get an extra action button, which lets you aim and fire in a short range. The Deweeder insta-kills Weedlings and does a small amount of damage to bigger mobs.

In stage 1 you must defeat 70 Weedlings, located in the first section of the delve. You can group them up to Deweed many at once, however, be aware that they hit fairly hard and you will most likely need a defensive to survive large pulls.

For stage 2 you will need to fill up a bar by eliminating Lightbloom from the campus, and destroy 5 Luminbulbs using the Deweeder. The Luminbulbs spawn circles on the ground that deal damage if you stand in them. If you pull mobs on top and use the deweeder it will destroy the bulb and make it easier to deal with the mobs. Weedlings count towards the bar and are still insta-killed by the Deweeder.

Once the bar is completed the boss spawns.

Boss

The boss in the Invasive Glow version of Collegiate Calamity is Hydrangea. This is a relatively easy encounter but can easily go wrong if you don’t do the mechanics correctly.

  • Summon Wildwood Weed is a short uninterruptible cast that will apply a root and a targetable Wildwood Weed which is channeling an interruptible spell. If you interrupt the channel this will remove the root
  • Lightbloom Salvo spawns a volley of raining projectiles that deal heavy damage if you are caught in them.

You will get help from NPCs to defeat the boss. They generally do a lot of damage, although also stand in a lot of debuffs and become unconscious. If you move on top of an unconscious NPC you will slowly heal it, and once full it will reactivate.

Overall Hydrange is a very easy boss, the NPCs basically kill the boss on their own and you just need to resurrect them. Make sure you have an interrupt for the Wildwood Weeds otherwise the root and salvo combo can easily lead to a death.

Early on, this is likely a great place to push higher delve tiers.

Academy Under Siege - Story Variant

In the Academy Under Siege version of Collegiate Calamity you will be helping defend the academy from the invading void.

Notable Mobs

Domnaar Enforcers deal minor melee damage and cast a circle around them, which deals heavy damage if you stand in it.

Controlled Slaughterclaw are large elites, who deal fairly high physical damage. They have two abilities: Seismic Stomp which deals AoE damage and puts a damaging circle around everyone, forcing you to spread out; and Blood Frenzy which buffs the Slaughterclaws with 5% attack speed and 10% increased movement speed.

Shadowguard Phaseblade cast Corporal Cleave, which is a frontal cone that deals heavy damage.

To start the delve speak to Thalandri Fatesinger, who will inform you that there are several Student Projects around the delve, and you can use them to help defeat the void enemies. The Projects are books or scrolls on floors or counters. Click them and you will get a random action button, for a one time use ability, which range from fireballs to absorb shields.

Your objective is to activate four Arcane Wards around the delve, which is done by simply clicking on them. We recommend following the route below, as it will put you closest to where the boss spawns, when you are finished with the wards.

Once you have filled up the bar and activated the four wards the boss will spawn.

collegiate calamity route 1

Boss

The boss for Academy Under Siege is Voidscorned Vagrant. It is a fairly easy boss and can be easily defeated using the NPCs. It has the following abilities:

  • Void Eruption causes circles to spawn on the ground which deal damage.
  • Terrifying Power is a fairly long interruptable cast which will fear everyone.

You will get help from NPCs to defeat the boss. They generally do a lot of damage, although also stand in a lot of debuffs and become unconscious. If you move on top of an unconscious NPC you will slowly heal it, and once full it will reactivate.

Dealing with Voidscarred Vagrant is very straightforward. Move out of the circles spawned by Void Eruption, and let Valeera interrupt Terrifying Power if she is in Damage specialization, otherwise interrupt it yourself. Make sure you reactivate unconscious NPCs, as they will make the boss die very quickly.

Faculty of Fear

In the Faculty of Fear version of Collegiate Calamity you will be uncovering hidden Twilight’s Blade Cultists, who have infiltrated the college.

Notable Mobs

Twilight Ogre Mage is a caster with two interruptible casts: Shadow Bolt and Sullen Shadow Bolt. Shadow Bolt deals minor damage and can be ignored for the most part. Sullen Shadow Bolt deals much higher damage and should be interrupted.

Umbral Skullcrasher is a melee mob who deals minor melee damage, and has the ability Twilight Crash. After a short charge time they will jump on a nearby player, dealing a small amount of damage around them. They also use Sacrificial Aegis, which puts a large absorb shield on them. This can be interrupted, although if you have casters in the same group you should prioritize interrupting them.

Shadowburn Vortex are large elemental casters who cast Malicious Ray, which is an interruptible channel which deals moderate damage, on nearby targets.

To start the delve, talk to Celonus Blackflame. He gives you the Eye of Revelation, who gives you an Extra Action Button that can be used to reveal a disguised enemy. As soon as you pick up the eye of Revelation you will see highlighted enemies in yellow through the walls. These are friendly NPCs, who you should use the extra action button on and defeat.

Your objective is to fill up a bar by killing enemies. You don’t have to reveal every single disguised enemy, but there won’t be enough mobs to kill to fill the bar if you don’t reveal some of them.

When you get to 100% on the bar, the boss will spawn.

Boss

The boss for the Faculty of Fear version of Collegiate Calamity is Infiltrator Garand.

  • Twilight Crash is a short uninterruptible cast where Garand will jump on a single target, make sure if you are with a group to spread out so it only hits one person.
  • Shadow Laceration applies a Magic damage over time, this can hurt a lot on higher difficulties but can be dispelled, if you are struggling with the damage set Valeera to healer and she will dispel it.

In this version the NPCs that help you in the fight will all be incapacitated at the start of the encounter. Standing in the purple circle each student is standing in will deal damage to you and free the student.

We recommend just popping a big defensive and freeing as many of the students as possible, as once they are free the boss will die very fast.

Collegiate Calamity Sturdy Chest Locations

There are a total of 3 Sturdy Chests located within Collegiate Calamity. You don’t need any special delves to be active in order to access them. They are all located on the main level of the delve, so you will not need to take a teleporter to reach them.
