The Shadowguard Point is a Midnight delve in the Voidstorm, where the remnants of the Shadowguard Ethereals are performing experiments for Xal’atath. In this guide we will go over the Delve mechanic, Trash mobs and Boss mechanics, as well as all the story variations and Sturdy Chest Locations for the Shadowguard Point.
There are 3 versions of the Shadowguard Point delve:
- Calamitous
- Stolen Mana
- Captured Wildlife

Shadowguard Point Delve Overview
This section covers things relevant to all versions of Shadowguard Point.
Delve Mobs
Most of the mobs within Shadowguard Point are Ethereals and their equipment. We have listed a few of the most notable mobs in Shadowguard Point below.
Shadowguard Phasehunter is an ethereal that does a small amount of melee damage, and uses Corporal Cleave, which is a cone that deals heavy damage if you remain within it. Be aware if you pull multiple phasehunters, as overlapping cones can leave you with very little space to dodge.
Shadowguard Soulbreaker are casters that have two significant casts. The first, Umbral Bolt, picks a single target (usually with the highest threat) and deals moderate shadow damage. The other ability, Soul Siphon, is a channeled cast which drains health from their target. We recommend prioritizing interrupting Soul Siphon to prevent the Soulbreaker from healing.
Shadowguard Steelsoul are large mechanical suits. They initially have a large absorb shield, which when broken will cause pulsing AoE. The other ability they have is Arcane Geyser, which is a fairly long channel that spawns a large number of circles around the area. We recommend trying to kill the Steelsouls as fast as possible once the shield has been broken, to avoid taking too much damage from the pulsing AoE.
Delve Boss
The endboss in Shadowguard Point is Chief-Arcanist Patram. He has several abilities which we have outlined below, together with suggestions of how to approach the encounter.
- Discordant Hymn is an uninterruptible channel, which spawns circles on the ground that deal heavy damage if you are caught by them.
- Submit to the Void is an interruptible cast, which applies a stacking magic DoT.
- Dark Communion - After a short cast Chief-Arcanist Patram summons a Dark Harbinger, a ghostly version of Xal’atath. It has low health so executes work immediately, but has a large shield. When defeated you gain 20% versatility and 30% increased cooldown speed - which means you get your cooldowns back faster.
- When the Harbinger spawns it instantly starts a 15 second cast of Dark Prayer which is uninterruptable. If the Harbinger is alive at the end of the cast the boss gains increased damage based on the size of the shield remaining.
Dealing with Chief-Arcanist Patram is fairly simple. Make sure you use defensive and offensive cooldowns as often as possible, as the Dark Communion will let you use them more often. Try to interrupt Submit to the Void as late as possible. This is especially the case when you have Valeera in DPS specialization, as she will interrupt fairly often. Make sure to keep moving while Patram casts Discordant Hymn to avoid taking damage.
Calamitous - Story Variant
In the Calamitous version of Shadowguard Point you will be destroying Void Stabilizers around the delve.
To start the delve you must first defeat Guard Captain Meti, right by the entrance. She only has a single ability, Arcane Bulwark, which grants her a shield. Once she is defeated, you will get two new objectives.
Your new objectives are to fill up a progress bar, by killing enemies, and to destroy Void Stabilizers. To destroy the Stabilizers you first pick up Arcane orbs that drop randomly from the mobs, by running over them. If you now enter the circle around a Void Stabilizer the orb you picked up will automatically destroy it.
When the Stabilizers are destroyed they leave behind voidzones, which detonate after a few seconds and stun you and do damage. If you feel confident we recommend trying to kite enemies into the circles for free damage, although being caught yourself can quickly lead to a death.
Once you have filled up the bar and destroyed the Void Stabilizers you can take on the boss.
Stolen Mana - Story Variant
In the Stolen Mana version of Shadowguard Point you will be freeing captured Ethereal and Void Elves who are being drained of their mana.
To begin, speak to Lysikas, and receive a Galvanic Rifle, which grants you an extra action button with a short cooldown. It deals a small amount of arcane damage and destroys nearby mana barrels. The objective now is to free eight people from Mana Siphoners, and fill a progress bar by destroying mana barrels with the Galvanic Rifle. There are two sizes of mana barrels. The smaller ones just disappear and count as 1% towards the progress bar. The larger count as 3% of the progress bar and will spawn a circle around it which deals damage and knocks back everything after a short duration. If you feel confident you can kite enemies into the circle, to deal a large amount of damage to them. However, being hit yourself will usually result in death.
Once the bar is full, the boss will spawn. We have a map below that shows a route which leaves you close to where the boss spawns around the time when you have filled up the bar.

Captured Wildlife - Story Variant
In the Captured Wildlife version of Shadowpoint Guard you will be rescuing wildlife..
You start the delve by talking to Lysikas. Your objective will then be to rescue wildlife from cages around the delve, and fill a progress bar by killing mobs. To free wildlife you click on the cages, and make sure you do as soon as you get the chance, because the wildlife inside will attack nearby mobs, doing significant amounts of damage.
After this you will meet Lysikas who will give you Worm Bait. This is used to defeat four Void Researchers who are shielded. When you get close enough to a Void Researcher an extra action button will appear. After a short cast you will throw worm bait at it and instantly kill it.
Once you have defeated all four Void Researchers, the boss will spawn. The route below will leave you close to the boss after completing all objectives.

Shadow Guard Point Sturdy Chest Locations
There are 3 sturdy chests located in the Shadowguard point delve. They are available in all versions of the delve, although they are a little easier to get to in the Calamitous version, due to a teleporter being present.
