How to get the Sun Festival's Painted Roc Mount
The Sun Festival’s Painted Roc is a new 2026 WoW Midsummer Fire Festival flying mount with a rare chance to drop from the Satchel of Chilled Goods, earned by defeating the holiday boss, The Frost Lord Ahune, through the Dungeon Finder. You can only loot one Satchel of Chilled Goods per day per account that is eligible to drop the mount.
Each day you loot the Satchel of Chilled Goods without receiving the mount, your chance to obtain the Sun Festival’s Painted Roc increases for the next day.
The Sun Festival’s Painted Roc is a time‑limited collectible, available only during the 2 week Midsummer Fire Festival. Once the event ends, the mount will not be obtainable again until the festival returns next summer.
Defeating Ahune, the Midsummer Fire Festival Holiday Boss
To obtain the Satchel of Chilled Goods, queue for The Frost Lord Ahune Dungeon through the Dungeon Finder or speak to the Earthen Ring Elder located in any main city Midsummer Fire Festival camp.
You’ll be sent to a holiday version of The Slave Pens Dungeon, and one player in the group must interact with the glacial stone to begin the encounter.
Ahune begins the fight immune to damage. After a few waves of enemies, he withdraws into his frozen core, allowing you to attack him. Once Ahune is defeated, the Satchel of Chilled Goods will automatically appear in your inventory.
