When it comes to dealing damage, you might be surprised by which minis actually blast away the hardest.
The question is also more difficult than it first seems. There are damage mechanics in the game that ramp up over time, especially poison and fury, and evaluating them can get tricky. Survivability is also a factor: even if a mini can deal high damage, that potential is not realized unless the mini also survives.
With those caveats, let’s start a journey into dealing damage in Warcraft Rumble!
The Best Minis at Baseline Damage
Before we get into ramping mechanics and various talents, which minis deal the most immediate, raw, single-target damage?
- Raptors (a squad of 6): 553.8 dps
- Angry Chickens (a squad of 9): 450 dps
- Harpies (a squad of 3): 349.8 dps
- Dire Batlings (a squad of 6): 240 dps
- Necromancer (with two minions): 211.9 dps
- Whelp Eggs (a squad of 3): 183.3 dps
- Mountaineer: 182.4 dps
- Footmen (a squad of 4): 175.2 dps
- Grommash Hellscream: 169.2 dps
- General Drakkisath: 166.7 dps
- Skeleton Party: 164.5 dps
- Worgen: 162.5 dps
- Darkspear Troll: 158.3 dps
- Gargoyle: 147 dps
- Sylvanas Windrunner: 146 dps
But minis also cost different amounts, so what if we take the gold cost into account and look at dps per gold spent?
- Angry Chickens: 225 dps per gold
- Vultures: 131.4 dps per gold (new)
- Dire Batlings: 120 dps per gold
- Harpies: 116.6 dps per gold
- Raptors: 92.3 dps per gold
- Gryphon Rider: 72.7 dps per gold (new)
- Whelp Eggs: 61.1 dps per gold
- Worgen: 54.2 dps per gold
- Necromancer: 53 dps per gold
- Darkspear Troll: 52.8 dps per gold
- Bat Rider: 50 dps per gold (new)
- Prowler: 48.1 dps per gold (new)
- Witch Doctor: 45 dps per gold (new)
- Faerie Dragon: 44.4 dps per gold (new)
- Grommash Hellscream: 42.3 dps per gold
The list looks a fair bit different! Also note how much damage the buffed Vultures deal compared to their tiny 1-gold cost.

Key Insights
There are quite a few insights that can be derived from this data.
First, poison damage really ramps up. The longer the fight, the better the poison minis become. Eventually, poison overtakes any other form of damage.
Second, Squad minis deal a lot of damage. They can be difficult to keep alive, but minis like Angry Chickens are incredible damage dealers and can hold on their own against poison even in some long-duration fights. Even Footmen deal a surprising amount of damage when they pile up on a single target.
Third, do not underestimate the buffs! Angry Chickens were strong already before the buff, and they are much better now. Also minis like Raptors and Vultures deal a lot of damage now after their buffs.
Fourth, some minis deal surprisingly competitive single-target damage in addition to having strong area-of-effect capabilities. Chimaera, Plague Farmer, and Whelp Eggs are remarkable threats that have the versatility to bring their best to almost any situation.
