This guide has been updated for the 2026 version of the event! Compared to the 2025 version, the missions have remained the same, but some minis have been changed: Arthas and Living Bomb were nerfed, and Starfall was buffed a little. The Lower Spire Mythic guide has been updated accordingly, and the other Mythic missions are exactly the same as in 2025.
The Arthas Reforged is a three-week annual event that runs from March 18, 2026 until April 8, 2026. During the event, players complete challenges related to the Arthas Split Leader mini and the Frozen Throne event maps.
In this event guide, I will show you the best rewards and optimal path through the reward tree and provide strong army comps for the special event missions.

- Core Hounds with Fiery Rebirth talent (upon being resurrected)

Arthas Event Missions
You access event missions directly from the event island: open the Arthas event, and you will see a Missions tab in addition to Challenges and Rewards.
Event missions can use any existing maps in the game, they can be timegated and progress-gated, and use various modifiers to make the encounters more difficult.
In the Arthas event, there are three difficulty levels for event missions. Event missions are unlocked by completing the previous mission. Each difficulty level is based on your average army level:
- Normal: 2 levels below your average army level
- Heroic: Same as your average army level
- Mythic: 2 levels above your average army level, no lower than one level below your highest-level mini
Because both your average army level and your highest-level mini affect the mission level, you may want to off-slot some minis to keep their levels close together.
Blizzard has not announced how the protection against skewed armies works, but the current top hypothesis is that all minis that are more than -4 levels from your highest-level mini will count as -4 levels from it for determining the opponent's level. The average army level shown in your army screen does not matter, and the enemy level shown in the mission list may be incorrect if your army is heavily skewed.
As practical consequences:
- You can have one mini that is +1 compared to the boss in Mythic (Assuming all other minis at -4 from the highest, with a total of 3 levels available to use between them on top)
- You can have up to 3 minis at the same level as a Mythic (Assuming other minis at -4 from the highest, with a total of 2 levels available to use between them on top)
- You can usually offslot 2 (sometimes 3) minis, preferably ones that bring utility, to lower the mission level by 1
- You cannot significantly outlevel Mythic missions
In addition to increasing levels, each difficulty level has additional modifiers that make the encounters more difficult.
There is currently a bug in the event missions that sometimes causes Arthas to not escape when near death in the first two missions. Instead, he remains invulnerable and keeps fighting. The cause is not fully known, but it looks like Arthas will sometimes refuse to escape when engaged in combat, especially away from his spawn point. When Arthas disengages, he progresses to escape and grants you victory. If you encounter this issue, do not send any more minis to fight Arthas to give him time to escape.
The Lower Spire - Normal and Heroic
In The Lower Spire, you meet Arthas and a patrolling version of Mor'Ladim, who is one of the original campaign bosses. Arthas will resummon Mor'Ladim after a while if you kill it, but killing it is still useful to cut a path to Arthas.
Arthas' army in The Lower Spire:
- Abomination
- Ghoul
- Necromancer
- Meat Wagon
- Skeleton Party
There are also periodic Skeleton spawns at any Towers that Arthas controls, and a bigger spawn of Skeletons and mini-Rattlegores at each phase transition.
Note that you can also use the Arthas comp from Mythic on Heroic difficulty.
Sylvanas with Chimaera and Plague Farmer:

Heroic Lower Spire Sylvanas: rumblo:CFIQAhoECCwQABoECEQQAhoECFgQARoECFkQAhoECBkQABoECFEQAg==
This Sylvanas army is well-equipped to handle Arthas, Mor'Ladim, and the Abominations. Sylvanas has the Fury talent and does not need to be played, she increases the damage dealt by her Horde and Undead minis just by being in the deck.
Swole Troll is your main tank. It has a lot of Health and an area-of-effect attack thanks to the Meatier Elbow talent, so it can stand its ground against Abominations and squads alike. Chimaera is your main damage dealer against Abominations, as Abominations cannot hook or hit it. You also want Plague Farmers against Arthas to stack up poison on him.
Whelp Eggs play a defensive role. You can pre-position them on the bottom left and bottom right, where Skeletons spawn at phase change, to get some damage in early. Ghoul or Swole Troll can help tank, and Witch Doctor can clear the remaining Skeletons near your base.
You can see this build in action here:
The Lower Spire - Mythic
The Mythic version of Lower Spire adds another two levels to the enemies as well as Frost waves from both Arthas and Mor'Ladim when they reach 50% health. Mor'Ladim also summons six Undead Footmen with Bloodlust upon death.
Frost wave:
- Frosts your minis for 2.5 seconds
- When the Frost ends, they explode for 150 Elemental damage to your minis only (so if you have a big group of minis, they will all die)
- Any minis that die to the explosion spawn a Skeleton Mage at the source of the Frost wave (Arthas or Mor'Ladim)
Arthas phases:
- Phase 2 at 70% health: Spawns minis near your base and near Arthas, cleanses poison, and gains a 90% damage shield for 5 seconds
- Frost wave at 50%: no phase indicator, not a real phase change (no immunity or cleanse)
- Phase 3 at 40% health: Same as phase 2
- The fight ends at 10% health and Arthas teleports away
Arthas with Living Bomb:

Mythic Lower Spire Arthas Living Bomb: rumblo:CF4QARoECEQQAhoECFkQAhoECAsQARoECCwQABoECBMQARoECF0QAA==

Mythic Lower Spire Arthas Cheat Death: rumblo:CF4QARoECEQQAhoECFkQAhoECAUQARoECCwQABoECBMQARoECF0QAg==
First, make a small push at Arthas to push him to phase 2. Try to avoid fighting Mor'Ladim at this point, and also avoid pushing Arthas to the Frost wave. Defend against the minis that spawn.
Then, make a bigger attack to push through the Frost wave and to phase 3 in one go. This will spawn a lot of minis at Arthas! Wait a small moment, and use Living Bomb to kill Arthas. Note that Arthas has damage immunity for 5 seconds, and Living Bomb has a 5-second delay from cast to explosion. This has changed from the original version in 2025, because then Living Bomb had only a 2-second delay, but I completed the Mythic mission with the same overall plan in 2026 as well.
It is also possible to use Cheat Death instead of Living Bomb and make your Plague Farmers survive long enough to kill Arthas. If you are fast enough, it is also possible to push each phase individually with troops.
It is fine to kill Mor'Ladim at some point, but it is important to not get a Frost wave from him while you are on the way to Arthas. Taking Mor'Ladim out between the pushes can be good. Mor'Ladim respawns after 45 seconds.

The Pit of Saron - Normal and Heroic
In The Pit of Saron, Arthas is joined by statues of Gish, the first boss from the Plaguelands campaign. When Arthas reaches half Health, these Gish statues come alive and attack your base.
Arthas' army in The Pit of Saron:
- Blizzard
- Dire Batlings
- Plague Farmer
- Skeleton Party
- Spiderlings
Arthas will periodically summon Winter Storms that freeze your minis, who will then explode for some damage when the effect ends.
Heroic mode adds Abominations to the map.
Drakkisath with Plague Farmer and Priestess:

Heroic Pit of Saron Drakkisath: rumblo:CCEQABoECAoQAhoECEYQARoECEQQAhoECEsQAhoECFkQAhoECF0QAA==
With this build, you do not try to beat Gish, you try to win the race instead.
Send one Drakkisath group with support to push towards the left Tower, and send another through the right lane. This helps mitigate the effects of Winter Storms. Your teams should meet at Arthas and attack the boss. When Gish wakes up, there is an explosion, the effect of which you can mitigate with Holy Nova.
You can see this build in action here:
The Pit of Saron - Mythic
The Mythic version of Pit of Saron is incredibly brutal. There are random elements and an overpowering phase change, it is one really hard mission.
The Winter Storms have been buffed and made more frequent for the Mythic version:
- The first storm starts after 30 seconds, then one every 49 seconds: 3:00, 2:11, 1:22, 0:33, overtime 0:44
- Three possible routes, chosen randomly!
- Stuns minis for 6 seconds
- When freed, minis explode for 40 Elemental damage on a radius of 4
- Applies a stack of poison every 0.25 seconds
- 288 poison damage in the four seconds it takes for a storm to go over a mini, 928 poison damage overall
The phase change at 50% has also been buffed. Arthas does the following at 50% health:
- Wakes up Gish
- Spawns an extra Winter Storm
- Applies 3 stacks of poison on all of your minis and explodes them, map-wide
- Cleanses poison from himself
- Gains a 90% damage shield for 5 seconds
The fight ends at 10% health.
The first solutions to the fight used Living Bomb, but if you have the right levels and talents, Starfall is a more consistent option.
Mythic Pit of Saron with Ysera and Starfall:

Mythic Pit of Saron Ysera Starfall: rumblo:CFsQAhoECCQQABoECAcQABoECF0QABoECAgQAhoECBkQABoECBsQAA==
Starfall bonus duration and Eclipse bonus levels for the next spell if cast immediately talents are mandatory. I did this with +0 Starfall and -3 Eclipse. -1 Starfall and -2 Eclipse would also work, and of course any higher combinations.
- Get the gold with Miner: ideally, you can send a Kobold Miner and Dark Iron Miner to the gold veins at the start
- Chimaera + Priestess can take the Tower, note that the Priestess must not be on top of Chimaera to avoid both getting hit by the same rockets; you can also help with Earth Elemental
- Defend with Chimaera, spells, and Ysera minis
- You want to push the 50% change at the start of overtime; there is some leeway both ways
- Make sure you have Hibernation in hand when pushing the phase
- Earth Elemental can Taunt Lich King when your Chimaera push reaches it
- After the phase change, use Hibernate + Eclipse + Starfall - cycle and repeat Eclipse + Starfall
- Kite Gish with Earth Elemental
- Optionally, you can have a Chimaera ready to kill the middle Gargoyle
You can see this build in action here:
Mythic Pit of Saron with Ysera and Living Bomb:

Mythic Pit of Saron Ysera: rumblo:CFsQAhoECAwQARoECBsQARoECBkQABoECCQQABoECF0QABoECAsQAQ==
- Get the gold with Miner: ideally, you can send a Kobold Miner and Dark Iron Miner to the gold veins at the start
- Chimaera + Priestess can take the Tower, note that the Priestess must not be on top of Chimaera to avoid both getting hit by the same rockets
- Defend with Chimaera and Ysera minis
- Earth Elemental Taunts Lich King when your Chimaera push reaches it
- After the phase change, use Sleep + Polymorph + Living Bomb
You can see this build in action here:
The Frozen Throne - Normal and Heroic
Arthas is empowered at The Frozen Throne, and now has the Death Grip talent, for example.
Arthas' army in The Frozen Throne:
- Banshee
- Blizzard (-1 level)
- Gargoyle
- Ghoul
- Necromancer
- Skeleton Party
Arthas will use Defile on the Towers, which will destroy the Towers and damage any nearby minis. In Heroic, these minis are resurrected as Skeletal Mages.
Drakkisath with Priestess and Skeletons:

Heroic Frozen Throne Drakkisath: rumblo:CCEQABoECFkQAhoECEQQAhoECF0QABoECEYQABoECB4QARoECE0QAg==
Drakkisath is a great Leader for this because he provides Resistance to nearby minis, thereby protecting them from much of the damage. Your goal is to build a Drakkisath deathball with three Priestesses for healing, and take Arthas down in a single attack. Witch Doctor and Plague Farmer are additional damage for the push. Pyromancer plays a dual role, as you can use her in the attack, and she is also important for defense, especially if any Gargoyles attack.
Dire Batlings and Skeletons are purely for defense. The main purpose of Skeletons is to bait any Banshees on them instead of something more useful. A little bit into the fight, two Banshees will spawn in the middle, and dropping the Skeletons on them takes care of both and protects Drakkisath.
You can see this build in action here:
The Frozen Throne - Mythic
Frozen Throne spawns:
- Banshee pair from the middle every 50 seconds: at 2:40, 1:50, 1:00, 0:10, and overtime 0:20 (you need to know the Banshee timings by heart)
- Two Undead Footmen spawn from any Towers controlled by Arthas, first after 15-20 seconds (3:15-3:10) and then every 30-35 seconds thereafter (partially randomized)
- Baron Rivendare summons a Footman every 20-34 seconds
- Baron Rivendare respawns after 45 seconds if killed
Frozen Throne Baron Rivendare:
- Baron Rivendare has a 400 Elemental damage melee cleave and a 250 Elemental damage single-target anti-air attack (can be swarmed by flying units)
- Baron Rivendare summons a Footman every 20-34 seconds
- Baron Rivendare respawns after 45 seconds if killed
- He switches lanes every 25 seconds
Frozen Throne Mythic phases:
Every phase:
- Spawns minis
- Defiles Towers
- Frost explosion (each mini explodes for 150 damage, slightly delayed)
- Arthas cleanses poison from himself
- Arthas gains a 90% damage shield for 5 seconds
- Map spawns gain a level
Phase two at 70% Health:
- Arthas gains cleave
- Arthas gains Death Grip (Plague Farmer can solo p1 outside of Arthas' range, but cannot repeat the same without distraction for p2)
Phase three at 40% Health:
- Anti-air attack range increased to 9 from 7
Phase four at 15% Health
Drakkisath strategy for Mythic Frozen Throne:

Mythic Frozen Throne Drakkisath: rumblo:CCEQABoECE0QAhoECAUQARoECF0QABoECEQQAhoECEYQABoECBMQAA==
- Drakkisath deathball through the left side, three times
- Cheat Death on the last one
- Bat Rider defends the right side
- Pyromancer kills Gargoyles
- Skeletons are fed to Banshees
You can see this strategy in action here:
Sylvanas strategy for Frozen Throne:

Mythic Frozen Throne Sylvanas (pawfessor): rumblo:CFIQAhoECB4QARoECEwQAhoECAUQARoECEQQAhoECBMQABoECC8QAQ==
General plan:
- Plague Farmers attack the Lich King, three times
- Rime Party to bait Death Grip on 2 & 3
- Cheat Death on the last one
- Take both Towers with Sappers or with Plague Farmers
- Party & Batlings kill Gargoyle, feed Banshee; try to avoid having many on the board at phase changes, position Skeleton Party in the middle where enemies spawn
Fight progression:
- Start by sending Sappers and Plague Farmer left, Batlings toward left through middle
- Build a first push of two Farmers and two sets of Batlings that take down Rivendare and then phase Lich King
- Take the right Tower too, but no hurry, defend right with Bat Rider
- Place a Skeleton Party in the middle where enemy Banshees spawn
- Save gold for phase change
- Handle phase change with Bat Rider and Plague Farmer, other minis as needed
- Take both Towers
- Prepare the second push, use at least two Plague Farmers
- Bait Death Grip with Skeleton Party in one of the top corners
- Save gold for phase change again
- Defend, stabilize, take both Towers
- Prepare the final push, multiple Plague Farmers
- Bait Death Grip with Skeleton Party in one of the top corners
- Cheat Death for the final frost explosion
