Gear
Tier Set
- 2PC: Rising Sun Kick deals 10% increased damage and goes nova, dealing (83% of Attack Power) Shadowflame damage to all enemies within 8 yds.
- 4PC: Fists of Fury deals 30% increased damage to the primary target and increases Shadowflame Nova damage you deal to all targets hit by 50% for 15 sec.
These tier bonuses have significant implications in how Windwalker Monk plays in 10.1. First, because of the added AoE damage from Shadowflame Nova, Rising Sun Kick rises in priority in AoE over Spinning Crane Kick. This means that you’ll be pressing Rising Sun Kick on cooldown in AoE situations. Additionally because of this, your build changes opting now for a more single target oriented build that uses Serenity and Faeline Stomp in all situations. Faeline Harmony will increase the damage coming from your Shadowflame Nova and Serenity will allow you to cast Rising Sun Kick often during its use allowing you to benefit more from the Shadowflame nova.

Gear
In 10.1.5, Seal of Diurna’s Chosen has been nerfed. With that said, it still remains a powerful option (equal to or better than 447 equivalents) on single target encounters if you have one at Mythic item level with a socket.
In 10.1, Your BiS Weapon is Djaruun, Pillar of the Elder Flame which is a very rare drop from Rashok the Elder.
You will be using the on-use effect on cooldown foregoing alignment with your other CDs as it will naturally desync because of the odd cooldown of 2.5 mins.
Because Djaruun is a very rare drop, it is unreliable and therefore you should be farming Forgestorm and Bile-stained Crawg Tusks in the meantime until you get it.
Embellishments
In Patch 10.1, your BiS embellishments have changed as a result of the newly introduced Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch and the recent huge buffs to the Toxified items.
Toxified Armor Patch and Slimy Expulsion Boots are the strongest in most situations, with Shadowflame-Tempered Armor Patch x2 within the margin of error as well, I would recommend going the toxic route in most situations. It’s important to note that due to how the Shadowflame embellishment works that it loses throughput in Mythic+ between pulls.
Additionally, the Alchemical Flavor Pocket can be crafted onto a piece of gear as a Quality of Life improvement that doesn’t count towards your two embellishment limit. It will make your Food Buff last twice as long and persist through death.
Onyx Annulet
Disclaimer: As of Patch 10.1.5, Blizzard has decided to finally nerf the Annulet stones. As a result, you’ll be looking to replace Annulet with a high item level ring with better stats. Please note that if you are still gearing up, it is still a strong option.
ST: Freezing Ice Stone, Prophetic Twilight Stone, Desirous Blood Stone
AoE: Pestilent Plague Stone / Storm Infused Stone, Prophetic Twilight Stone, Desirous Blood Stone
