Introduction
Welcome to the Resto Druid guide for Midnight. I’m Birra or ‘BirraGzeez’, a Restoration Druid who sometimes dabbles in some Priest and Shaman gameplay and a healer in the raiding guild Honolulu.
Restoration Druid is one of the most flexible and versatile specs in the game and a solid pick healer for M+ or raids. It's a great choice for people looking to get into healing, thanks to the wide variety of tools the class provides, from its diverse utility in different dungeons and scenarios to its strong mobility and good sustained healing.
The Midnight expansion brings a major overhaul to Restoration Druid, with all the class pruning and extensive gameplay changes. In this guide, we will go through all the major changes and will cover everything you need to know to understand the spec.
What has changed
Midnight Restoration Druid Changes
The underlying philosophy behind these changes is to slow down the overall pace of healing in Midnight, making recovery from heavy damage more gradual while reducing reliance on precise cooldown timing and complex ramp-up sequences. This approach aims to create a more accessible and less stressful healing experience.
Spec Updates:
- Everbloom:
- Rank 1: Everbloom Lifebloom stacks up to 3 times automatically on the target (doesn’t count towards 3 mastery stacks, and refreshing it keeps the stacks).
- Rank 2: Everbloom 10% of Lifebloom healing splashes to 2 allies within 30 yards.
- Rank 3: Everbloom Soul of the Forest consumption causes Lifebloom to bloom 5 times in rapid succession.
- Mastery is much more effective per healing over time effect active, as they can now only apply up to 5 healing over time effects to allies. Mastery: Harmony now increases your healing by 9% per heal over time effect (was 6%)
- Soul of the Forest now only buffs Rejuvenation or Regrowth (no Wild Growth).
- Power of the Archdruid now applies 100% of the time after consuming Soul of the Forest (2 additional Rejuvenation or regrowth will apply to nearby players).
- Nature's Bounty When Regrowth directly heals a target, 20% of that healing is also applied to other allies already affected by Regrowth.
- Tranquility now applies Flourish and no longer applies the staking hot effect.
- Grove Guardians now spawn passively when you cast Swiftmend or Wild Growth.
- Lifetreading Talent can make Efflorescence grow automatically beneath your Lifebloom target's feet.
- Heart of the Wild now performs an off-role ability depending on the current active shapeshift form instead of being a long buff based on form.
- Cultivation revamped, Rejuvenation now will proc an additional heal if the target is below 60% health.
- Photosynthesis now only increases the chance of Lifebloom to bloom based on the hots on that player.
Keeper of the Grove Changes:
- Dream Surge [Nerfed]. Aoe healing creates 2 petals instead of 3.
- Cenarius' Might [Revamped] Now increases Swiftmend healing by 20% instead of Giving 10% haste.
- Durability of Nature [Revamped]. Now increases Grove Guardian duration by 20%
- Early Spring [Revamped]. Now reduces the cooldowns on Wild Growth and Swiftmend by 1 second.
- Sylvan Beckoning [New]. Your periodic heals have a chance to empower your next Swiftmend to summon a Dryad that casts Tranquility at 10% effectiveness and Regrowth onto the lowest health ally.
- Dryad's Dance [New]. Now causes your Swiftmend to cool down 25% faster.
- Spirit of the Thicket [New]. Now causes Ironbark to summon a Dryad to channel healing on the target for 6 seconds.
Wildstalker Changes:
- Strategic Infusion [Revamped]. The node now passively causes hots to have 4% increased crit chance instead of being a 10-second buff after casting Regrowth.
- Green Thumb [New]. Increases Symbiotic Blooms' growth rate by 20%.
- Rampancy [New]. Symbiotic Blooms have a 20% chance to trigger Bursting Growth every 2 sec at 100% effectiveness.
- Patient Custodian [New]. Heal over time effects are 6% more effective.
Removed
Another key objective in Midnight is to make specs easier to play by reducing the number of overlapping buffs and interactions. For Restoration, this has resulted in two main changes:
The removal of several heal-over-time effects and the conversion of some active abilities into passives, many of which were talents that saw little to no use anyway.
Here are some of the major highlights of talents that have been removed: Skull bash, Undergrowth, Spring Blossoms, Renewal, Nature's Vigil, Cenarion Ward, Forest’s Flow, Invigorate, Wildwood Roots, Overgrowth, Dreamstate, Budding Leaves, Twinleaf, Flash of Clarity and Grove Tending.
