Introduction

This will be your introductory guide to playing as a Mistweaver monk, written by Tincell who’s part of the healer team in Salted for Midnight’s forthcoming raiding tiers. With experience from several tiers of cutting edge progress playing monk, priest and paladin.

Mistweaver Monk Overview

Mistweaver, having been one of the more complex healing specs to master, has seen several changes with the launch of Midnight. Gone are the multiple stacking modifiers that interacted with each other which made the spec convoluted in maximising its healing. Now is the perfect time to pick up Mistweaver if you’ve ever considered learning something new.

Strengths:

  • Excellent targeted spot-healing with Vivify or triage healing using Sheilun’s Gift paired with Legacy of Wisdom.
  • High throughput being able to easily convert mana into more healing fast, at the cost of mana consumption.
  • Highly mobile as a healer and can easily reach and get out of mechanics without issue.
  • Considered a melee healer so several mechanics in fights never target you
  • Always-be-casting playstyle where there’s always something to press and never any downtime.

Weaknesses:

  • Mana consumption is at an all time high and you’ll run out of mana quickly if you’re not careful
  • Purely a throughput healer being heavily dependant on the spec being tuned properly
  • Utility spells that are rarely are in demand. Ring of Peace, Paralysis and Tiger’s Lust are all considered very niche and rarely of any demand in raids and Mythic+.
  • Mystic Touch is not highly valued in a dungeon or raid setting as most damage done to enemies are not physical. Also most of Mistweavers damaging abilities are not physical damage. Raid buff is usually brought by any other monk spec in a raid setting.

What has changed

Patch 12.1

With the release of 12.1 Mistweaver received mostly minor changes.

  • New talent Vital Expenditure
    • Increases your Soothing Mist healing, however it also increases its mana cost at the same time. Talent shares a choice node with Dancing Mists. As Soothing Mist already has a high mana cost this talent will most likely see little play in its current form.
  • Spinning Crane Kick damage has been decreased by 15%
  • Way of the Crane healing transfer for Spinning Crane Kick is now set at 280%, down from earlier 340%.
  • Jadefire Teachings transfer rate has been adjusted to 320% from its earlier 270% to compensate for the changes to Way of the Crane.
  • Gust of Mists received a major increase in its scaling putting your base mastery at 249.48%.
  • Morning Breeze effectiveness was reduced by 60% to make sure the talent stays at the same power level with the change to Gust of Mists.
  • Mana Tea was buffed by 20% now giving 6480 mana per stack from earlier 5400.
  • Silent Sanctuary healing was increased by 25%
  • Chi Transfer now heals you for 60% of the damage dealt, up from previous value of 50%.

Patch 12.0.7

No tuning changes to Mistweaver will happen with the release of 12.0.7.

Patch 12.0.5 Changes to Mistweaver
