Arcane Mage Midnight Gearing Guide

Midnight Season 1 Tier Set Bonuses:

• (2) Set Bonus: Each Arcane Charge increases your critical strike chance by 1.0%.
• (4) Set Bonus: The critical strike damage of your Arcane spells is increased by 10%.

Tier Set Discussion: Non-gameplay-changing tier set. 4-set makes Critical Strike chance slightly more valuable, but still not enough for you to go fully into it.

You should still prioritise the gear you use by running a sim for your character, but the lists below will give you a good idea of what items are considered good for Arcane Mage, and help you target the right content for each piece of loot.

Locus-Walker's Ribbon – A passive trinket that has a chance to grant you an Intellect buff. The longer you remain in combat, the stronger the buff becomes, and it quickly decays if you leave combat. Very similar to Eye Of Kezan trinket from The War Within expansion.

Vaelgor's Final Stare – A 1.5 minute on-use trinket that grants a large amount of Mastery. It lines up perfectly with your major cooldown Arcane Surge. Its high amount of mastery granted upon use makes it the BiS trinket.

Gaze Of The Alnseer – A passive trinket that has a chance to grant Intellect. Second BiS trinket.

The current best performing Embellishments in Midnight for Frost Mage is 2x Arcanoweave Lining, which can be crafted on any armor piece. I highly recommend crafting it on low stat budget pieces, such as Cloak and Wrists.

Alternatively, I would recommend crafting a 2-hander Staff (Aln'hara Cane) early into the season due to the massive number of stats weapons provide.

These Embellishments are BiS for both raid and M+.

Bonus Rolls (Nebulous Voidcores)

With the patch 12.0.5, Blizzard has brought back bonus rolls (Nebulous Voidcores), which can be used to receive a guaranteed item at the end of a Mythic+ run or after slaying a raid boss. I highly recommend to target BiS trinkets, specifically Gaze Of The Alnseer and Vaelgor's Final Stare on the Mythic difficulty first. That means you would use the bonus roll after slaying Chimareus or Vaelgor and Ezzorak.

If you already own both of these trinkets, you can start targeting high item level tier pieces and rings. Keep in mind that if you intend to use the bonus roll in an m+ dungeon, you should do so if the keystone is +10 or higher, since that will reward you with a 1/6 mythic piece.

Mythic Sporefall Loot drops at the highest item level (298) making it ideal for remaining bonus rolls after you’ve picked up the recommended trinkets and a weapon on Myth track.

Voidforging (Ascendant Voidcores)

With the new patch, you can also upgrade an item of your choosing beyond the item level cap. To do so, you will need to unlock the Voidforge and then start collecting Ascendant Voidcores, which can be spent to upgrade individual items. You will be able to upgrade each item once and should prioritize:

• Mythic track weapons
• Crafted weapons
• Mythic track trinkets

The maximum item level that the item can be upgraded to is 298. Crafted items can only be upgraded to 295.

Omnium Folio

The Omnium Folio is a new player power system, released in Midnight Patch 12.0.7 and active for the duration of the Midnight WoW Expansion. By completing a weekly quest, you will unlock more of the Omnium Folio upgrade Tree and can choose from a number of player power enhancements.

Recommended Omnium Folio Powers for Arcane Mage:

• Row 3: Rune Of Lingering
• Row 4: Rune Of Critical Power
• Row 5: Rune Of Overload
