Jewelcrafting in The War Within (Khaz Algar Jewelcrafting) is keeping the same basic layout as it did in Dragonflight, with 3 specializations.
One change that has happened is that prospecting is now more deterministic and specific ore will give you specific gems, unless you spend knowledge to improve your prospecting. Here is a more comprehensive guide on what ore you need to prospect in order to receive which gem.
Jewelcrafting Trainer & Crafting Table Location
The War Within Jewelcrafting Trainer is Makir, who is located in the south of Dornogal near the southern entrance. The Jeweler’s bench is next to the trainer.
Leveling The War Within Jewelcrafting
This guide is what we think is the most efficient way of leveling your Jewelcrafting profession, up until level 46 we have provided a structured crafting step-by-step that focuses on minimizing the amount of crafts needed and being conscious of the cost. Beyond level 46 there are several options, and Beta-testing was inconclusive regarding which method will be the most economical or viable.
Levels 1-15
As you start leveling Jewelcrafting, you will be prospecting ore. We recommend prospecting Ironclaw and Bismuth for later crafts in this guide, we expect Bismuth ore to be the cheapest as it is the most common.
Prospect until level 15 where the skill turns gray. Make sure to also prospect the Handful of Pebbles you receive from prospecting ores as they give a guaranteed Ambivalent Amber, which you will use in future steps.
Levels 16-30
Return to the trainer and learn the new recipes. Then craft the following:
- Craft Marbled Stone 3 or 4 times, you need enough for the Radiant Loupes.
- Craft Radiant Loupes.
After crafting the Radiant Loupes, you can equip them for the Multicraft they provide.
At this point you will be either Jewelcrafting level 19 or 20.
If you are not level 20 already, use Algari Crushing to crush some Ambers to produce Crushed Gemstones, which are used in a lot of recipes going forward. Do this until you reach level 20 and the recipe goes gray.
Next, craft 5 Gilded Vial to reach level 30. These will require the mats you have previously obtained from prospecting and crushing, if you don’t have enough then check the auction house as just purchasing the materials might be cheaper than trying to get them through prospecting and crushing.
Levels 31-36
Return to the trainer to learn some new recipes. Then craft the following:
- Craft Malleable Band for the First Craft profession knowledge.
- Craft 2x Malleable Pendants to reach level 36.
If you wish to prospect for the materials yourself, there are only 2 ores that naturally drop Stunning Sapphires used in the Malleable Pendant Recipe: Aqirite and Null stone. We expect Null Stone to be a very expensive option on release so stick with Aqirite (but check the Auction House regardless).
Levels 37-50
Return to the trainer and learn some new recipes. Then craft the following:
- Incanter’s Shard
- Right-handed Magnifying Glass
- Storyteller’s Glasses until 50
Levels 51-95
At this point all recipes you know will be green and rarely give skill ups. This leaves you with a few options.
Option 1
At level 50 Jewelcrafting you can purchase the Cubic Blasphemia from Griftah. This recipe will give guaranteed skill ups till 70, goes green at 75 and gray at 80, so it's a great option and relatively cheap to craft.
Checkout our Griftah location guide to find Griftah and learn this Cubic Blasphemia recipe.
Option 2
Another option is to do dungeons and hope you get one of the Blasphemite gem recipes, although we don’t currently know the drop rate or which difficulty they drop on. These will also be very expensive to craft.
Option 3
Another option is to use knowledge points to gain a recipe.
There are 2 specializations for this:
- Firstly, the Jewelrycrafting specialization, which needs 10 points to unlock a sub-specialization to be able to craft either necks or rings. Both of these require a Spark of Omens and Blasphemite to craft so are probably going to be very expensive.
- Secondly, the Gemcutting Specialization, which needs 10 points to unlock one of the sub-specializations, which will then let you further specialize into a specific stat for that gem. The gem recipes will go yellow at 70, green at 75 and finally gray at 80.
Unfortunately, because some of these options haven’t been available to test on the Beta, we are not able to give a confident suggestion of which option will be the best to use at the launch of the expansion. All we can predict for sure is that it will be very expensive early in the expansion to get Jewelcrafting to 100.
It's worth remembering that with The War Within you will have access to the new Patron System (NPC work orders), and all of the above crafts are available as work orders. The NPCs will usually not provide all the materials, but if they order an item requiring a spark they will always provide it.
Levels 96-100
At level 95 the only recipes that give guaranteed skill ups are Blasphemite gems and Jeweler Setting (the item to add sockets to a ring or neck item); the recipe for the Jeweler Setting is a drop from the penultimate boss of the raid. The neck and ring recipes will be yellow and will give skill ups fairly often, so continue to look for work orders for them.
Darkmoon Faire
When Darkmoon Faire is active you can gain 2 skill points and 3 knowledge points; it will be a short quest from Chronos called Keeping the Faire Sparkling.
We recommend leaving this as late as possible to get the most value out of the increased skill points.
