Other minis and map mechanics
The main feature of the Bloodmage Thalnos encounter is the Banshees. In Normal, Surges, and Quests, there are 2 Banshees on the left and 2 on the right, waiting. They respawn individually 45 seconds after being killed in normal and 90 seconds after being killed in Surges and Quests.
In Heroic, there are 4 Banshees on the left and 2 on the right, and they all come for your base right from the start. They respawn individually 45 seconds after being killed. They have the Unholy Frenzy talent.
Bloodmage Thalnos:
- 5200 health
- Shadow Splash: 160 Elemental damage, 2.3 seconds attack speed, 9 range, 4 radius
General strategy
Angry Chickens are the ultimate Banshee counter. Banshee steals one, and the other Chickens peck it apart. They can even handle multiple Banshees because there are plenty of chicken bodies to sacrifice.
With Chicken power, you can push up the left lane and grab the chests.
Defend the right lane as needed. You can feed Kobolds to Banshees as well because if a Banshee gets to your base, the curse will deal tons of damage. A base can barely take two Banshees, and a third one is lethal unless you outlevel the encounter.
As for taking out Thalnos, you have two options:
- Push up the left lane all the way to Thalnos, distract it with an Unbound tank, and finish it with your push.
- Send Unbound minis, usually Whelp Eggs, together with an Unbound tank. Play the Whelp Eggs a bit further away than the tank that you will play right next to Thalnos on the other side when its attack animation is happening. Thalnos pops the Eggs and looks for a new target, and because the tank is now closer than the Whelps, Thalnos will turn towards it.
