Tier Sets

The War Within Season 1 Devastation Evoker Tier Set:

  • (2) Set Bonus: Disintegrate damage increased by 10% and Pyre damage increased by 10%.
  • (4) Set Bonus: Eternity Surge's cooldown is decreased by 5.0 sec and it now grants Essence Burst.

Our 2 piece bonus grants us a damage increase to our spenders Disintegrate and Pyre.

Our 4 piece bonus makes casting Eternity Surge really rewarding and eases out Essence management with a free essence burst every time Eternity Surge is casted.

The following list isn’t exhaustive, and will focus on only listing some items to give you a rough idea where to start your gearing journey. There are only very few items that beat out every other item in their respective slot. To get a full list of possible upgrades for your character specifically, I recommend running a Droptimizer simulation for the Raids and Mythic+ Dungeons.

Trinkets

With The War Within there are a variety of trinkets that can work well for devastation. Usually you want to aim for either: 1 on-use and 1 passive trinket or 2 passive trinkets. On-use trinkets on a 2 minute cooldown work especially well since they line up with every Dragonrage cast.

To give you a baseline what trinkets are worth getting your hands on I'll list a few options below.

On-use trinkets:

Spymaster’s Web - This trinket stacks a buff on yourself that slightly increases your Intellect. When used these stacks are consumed and converted into a bigger intellect buff per stack. You want to consume stacks with your last Dragonrage of the fight to sit on as many stacks as possible for a long time. Also make sure to consume a 40 Stacks Spymasters halfway through longer fights to not overcap them. If you find yourself at the end of a fight / dungeon and want to get some extra intellect in you can weave in some casts since the trinkets cooldown is only 20 seconds.

Aberrant Spellforge - Has a strong passive damage proc with a good extra on use effect.

Mad Queen’s Mandate - This trinket has almost all its value in the on use effect which hits your target after a short cast with a big amount of damage. If you manage to kill your target with the trinket its cooldown is reduced by 60 seconds.

To summarize: the on-use trinkets Spymasters web is by far the best Trinket for Devastation. Aberrant Spellforge and Mad Queen’s Mandate are both really good options. When playing 2 On-use trinkets make sure to keep the 20 seconds cooldown in mind when you use one, so you can synchronize Spymaster’s Web with Dragonrage.

Passive Trinkets:

Ara-Kara Sacbrood - A mix between a stat boost and a damage proc.

Gale of Shadows - Boosts your intellect when damage over time effects deal damage.

Embellishments

Right now there is one Embellishment combination that stands out and outperforms all alternatives in any kind of content.

You want to Craft a weapon with Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension combined with a Writhing Armor Binding, which doubles the effect from Darkmoon Sigil: Ascension, on any slot that currently works well for your gear. Look out for low item level slots that you can upgrade. Also keep in mind that Writhing Armor Binding can only be crafted on armor, so not on Rings / Necks.

If you decide to craft a 2 handed Weapon it will cost you 2 Sparks and the additional craft with the Writhing Armor Binding costs you one additional Spark
