The Dragonflight prepatch is well underway and on November 15th the next stage of the Dragonflight countdown will take place as Dracthyr Evokers finally become playable!
The introduction of Dracthyrs and the Evoker class is one of the most significant additions to the new World of Warcraft expansion, Dragonflight. Evokers are unique as they are exclusively playable as the new race, Dracthyr, meaning that if you are interested in playing Evoker you have to play the Dracthyr race and vice versa.
The Evoker is a medium range caster class with most of its abilities having 25-30 yard range and has two specialisations, Devastation (DPS) and Preservation (Healer). Each specialisation carries a very unique design, yet shares many similarities as they are both highly mobile, fairly tanky and provide great raid and party utility. The Evoker talent tree offers many interesting abilities to support yourself and your team, such as Obsidian Scales, Cauterizing Flame and Zephyr. The class is also highly mobile due to abilities like Hover and Rescue.

Devastation is a medium range caster DPS specialisation with most of its damage abilities having a 25 yard range which might seem clunky at first glance, but will become less frustrating as you get used to the high mobility available to the Evoker class.
Watch our Devastation guide to learn more about the specialisation!
Preservation is a medium range Healer specialisation and most of its healing abilities have a 30 yard range, 10 yards less than the other Healers. Preservation Evokers are highly mobile which helps make it easier to deal with the short range healing abilities.
Watch our Preservation guide to learn more about the specialisation!
When can you play Evoker?
You can create your own Evoker on the live game on November 15th (US) and November 16th (EU) during Phase 2 of the Dragonflight pre-expansion patch. Keep in mind that the Evoker class is still in its early stages and might be subject to change!
We hope that you found this article useful. Our authors are working on our full Evoker guides, which you will be able to find at the launch of Dragonflight over at method.gg/guides!
