Sepulcher of the First Ones
Vigilant GuardianSingle Target / Cleave
Talents: You can pick Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: This is a pretty straightforward boss. Make sure to save blinks to reach a safe spot when the AoE damage on the raid starts.
Make sure to use Barrier and Blink to move out from the raid if a bomb targets you and you need to go out and come back quickly.
Talents: You can pick Pyroclasm instead of Kindling
Notes: Make sure to save Blink for Retch when you need to move with the raid to another position.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to use Alter Time or Barrier when you are the furthest player out for Dust Blast, it will deal heavy damage, and you might outrange your healers, so make sure you don’t end up dying.
Artificer Xy'moxSingle Target / Cleave
Talents: You can pick, Conflagration instead of Flam Patch and Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: You want to use your Barrier as often as possible. There is a lot of raid damage, especially when you spread to bait the Stasis Trap and from boss Lighting.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to save a kick for the adds during the intermission, which happens at 75% and 50% health.
A couple of adds will spawn, and Xy Acolyte is your priority target. Even though you can use flamestrike, I’d recommend having a Sun king’s Blessing Proc and trying to single target one of the Xy Acolyte if you want to be the real MVP.
DausegneSingle Target / 1 Add Cleave
Talents: You can pick Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: During the fight, the boss will spawn an add that needs to be burst down. Try to save Sun King’s Blessing for it if possible.
IMPORTANT: make sure to save Blink, Door of Shadows, or Soulshape for the Disintegration Halo Double ring Overlap.
During the encounter, the boss will create a shield on herself with Siphoned Barrier, and it is crucial to burst down the barrier as fast as possible because it will do heavy raid-wide damage.
Make sure to save Alter time, and have Barrier or Mirror Images ready for the shield. It will be highly beneficial to have Sun king’s Blessing prepared to burst down Siphoned Barrier.
Prototype Pantheon2T / 4T Cleave
Talents: You can pick Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: In this encounter, you will be fighting 2 targets most of the time. However, in the last phase, you will fight all 4 bosses simultaneously.
Make sure to save Blink \ Soulshape \ Door of shadows to move around the room if targeted by Night Hunter. The Ritualist and the Seed on Mythic are affected by a Shield, and you will need to break the shield with Night Hunter.
The ritualist adds are a priority during the encounter, and having Sun king’s Blessing Ready to burst one of them down will be super helpful.
IMPORTANT: Use your barrier as much as possible because this encounter is heavy with raid damage, and your healers will most likely be busy healing the seeds.
LihuvimSingle Target / Target Swapping
Notes: In this encounter, you will play firestarter and save your Combustion for the add you are assigned to with your group. It should be around 20 seconds into the pull so you can build Sun king’s Blessing stacks for the big add during the intermission.
Make sure to save blink, door of shadows, or soul shape to move around the room if you need to move out for Motes or if you need to clear the motes with the Bomb.
There will be heavy damage during the intermission, and you can save Alter time to heal yourself back to full HP during the add phase.
On Mythic, there is a new mechanic called Alignment Shift, which means, unlike Heroic and Normal, that only pushes you back, you will also get pulled in on mythic difficulty. So, make sure to save blink or alter time to get back to your assigned group to deal with Alignment Shift.
IMPORTANT: Alignment Shift can either knock you back or pull you in, depending on which one you get. You want to save blink or alter time to deal with it accordingly to get back to your assigned group to stack with your friends for Alignment Shift.
Talents: You can pick Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: During this encounter, your movement and positioning is key.
This is one of these encounters where you kinda have to “play it for yourself and get the feeling for “
But there are some things I want to emphasize.
The BEST ADVICE I can give to you is always to make sure that you are ahead of the boss during the intermission. You never want to find yourself in a position where you are chasing the boss, especially as a bomb holder.
Reclamation Form can be extremely deadly if you are not at full HP. It is super important that you keep yourself healthy with Barrier / Alter time / Mirror Images since it deals HEAVY raid-wide damage, and your healers might be far away from you or healing other players. Alter time is probably the best thing to deal with Reclamation Form.
IMPORTANT: On Mythic, if you are assigned to handle a bomb, you can see it as playing “Hot Potato“ the less time the bomb is on the ground, the better.
The bomb has a 30 seconds timer on it. While picking up the bomb, you will get a burst of damage and a debuff for 32 seconds, preventing you from picking up the bomb again.
Make sure to have a good amount of health before you pick up a bomb because if Earthbreaker Missiles are happening while you are picking up a bomb with low HP, you might be in danger.
During the intermission, you always want to be ahead of the boss, but make sure not to get knocked off the platform when the boss uses Detonation. If you find yourself with no blink available, alter time can be used to get yourself back into position.
Anduin WrynnSingle Target / Adds
Talents: You can pick Searing Touch instead of Firestarter and Pyroclasm instead of Kindling.
Notes: Help your raid soak Befouled Barrier (deadly if you are not at full HP!)
Hopebreaker, Heavy raid-wide damage, make sure to save some a defensive for that, Shield, Mirror Images, Alter time. Blasphemy - make sure to find the opposite color as fast as possible, be CAREFUL with blink because it can trigger an explosion if you interact with someone who has the same color. Monstrous Soul has to be focused and burst down from 35%. Having Sun king's Blessing ready will be highly beneficial to your group to help them burst down the add.
IMPORTANT: for the Kingsmourne Hungers phase, make sure to enter the downstairs with Sun king's Blessing ready to go, so you can be efficient with your damage and deal with the big add and ignite cleave (depending on how your guild deal with the adds downstairs)
When you go into the Kingsmourne Hungers phase, you will leave a reflection of yourself upstairs that needs to be killed once you are done with the adds downstairs, so make sure not to over burst the reflections when you are upstairs and your friends are downstairs for Kingsmourne Hungers.
Alter time can be highly effective because the group downstairs will take heavy raid damage during Kingsmourne Hungers.
Dragon's Breath, Frost Nova, and Ring of Frost can be used if the small adds are getting too close to the center and you want to keep them CC'ed.
Blasphemy will be applied once or twice before the boss dies ( depending on your raid DPS ). You can Ice Block the explosion before the debuff goes off to let more people clear their Blasphemy debuff in the glowing bubble in the center. If you block the Blasphemy debuff, make sure to spread because you will deal a small explosion around you, and you need to be spread from someone else that is immuning Blasphemy so you won't die from the debuff.
Lords of Dread2T Cleave + 1 Add
Talents: You can pick Firestarter instead of Searing Touch
Notes: Standard 2 Target cleave fight, once the boss reaches 100 energy, he will start casting Unto Darkness, which deals heavy raid-wide damage, so you might want to look at your health during the cast.
The boss takes extra damage during Unto Darkness, and it might be worth holding combustion for that. It should be 45 seconds into the pull.
Another option is to use combustion on the pull with Firestarter and try to farm it back before the boss reaches 100 energy.
RygelonMostly Single Target
Notes: This fight is all about killing the stars at the right time. You will even swap targets during your combustion to kill the stars if they get too close to the boss. Some things to keep in mind, you can only hit Dark Matter if you went inside a star and you are in the "delirium phase," so make sure to damage it as much as you can while you are inside. Also, make sure that you get out of the phase in a safe spot so you won't knock your friends away from the platform.
IMPORTANT: make sure to use blink \ door of shadows \ soul shape to reach the point you are assigned to for the intermission so you won't die from the Massive Bang. When you are inside the downstairs phase after killing the dark matter, there will be heavy raid-wide damage, so make sure to use whatever you have to stay alive, including Barrier, Images, etc.
If you are assigned to soak a core, use a defensive cooldown. Combustion should be used every time you are in the normal phase if you play 2 minutes combustion with Pyroclasm.
The JailerSingle Target / Adds
Talents: You can play Kindling instead of Pyroclasm
Notes: Alter time can be used to Negate Chains of Oppression.
Make sure to line of sight for Domination.
Torment can be highly deadly early on, so make sure to line up your Barrier with every torment set.
Make sure to look out for Decimator, so you don't end up falling down in a hole. Whenever you find yourself in a bad position or baiting a bad Decimator, alter time or blink can help you get back into position.
IMPORTANT: So, unlike Heroic and Normal, there will be a set 6 bombs in p1 instead of 3. Make sure to position correctly and react to the bomb you are assigned to. Make sure to position yourself properly if you are assigned to heal the boss with Surging Azerite.
Try and save Sun king's blessing for Rune of Compulsion. Three players will get mind-controlled, and their shields need to be broken ASAP.
World Shatterer can be deadly if you are not at full health, so keep an eye out.
Sanctum of Domination
The TarragrueSingle Target
Pretty straight-forward entry boss. Make sure to save blinks for the mist-phase to avoid running and losing a lot of damage.
IMPORTANT: You can alter time, pick up the debuff from the orbs and snap back to maximize movement.
Eye of the JailerMostly Single Target
IMPORTANT: You can alter time in the same direction as the beam is moving. Once the beam has crossed your alter time location you can just snap back. Alternatively you can also just blink, but the hitbox is quite big. Shifting power reduces alter time cooldown to the extent that you can actually alter time every beam.
The NineSingle Target / Cleave
IMPORTANT: Never stop casting, always use scorch or alter time to prevent the knock-back and drag-ins to keep casting and resetting combustion. You can also get a lot of cleave off due to ignite and Shifting power.
Remnant of Ner'zhulSingle Target / Cleave
You want to avoid scorching as much as you can, however, whenever you have to dodge something, try and look for a safe spot to blink whilst casting fireball. Make sure to alter time before combustion if a knock is about to happens so that you do not lose uptime.
IMPORTANT: You can soulshape and negate the knockback that way. Alter time and blinks also works well. If you for some reason don't have any of these, resort to scorching mid-air. If your raid leader tells you to go furthest out with the bomb, then remember to alter time just before you get dispelled.
On mythic a pool will spawn under you when you get dispelled and it does a ton of damage. To minimize damage taken from the pool you have to alter back to a location where the pool won’t be. So basically what I do is that I walk slightly right of the group, press alter, move back into position to get dispelled, then alter back to a location without any pools.
Soulrender DormazainSingle Target / Add Waves
With the timers on PTR, it was relatively easy to get combustion ready again for the add spawns. If your guild has too much damage on the debuffed-targets, you can also resort to cleaving off the boss onto the adds, however it is better to combust the debuffed target due to the damage amp. But this depends a lot on how much damage your guild has.
IMPORTANT: If you are snapping the chains, you can alter time before snapping the chain and instantly alter back. You can also use mirror images before you take the chain because it will give you the 20% DR for all 3 hits.
Painsmith RaznalSingle Target / Target Swapping
You can combust twice if your group DPS is low in P1. Remember that ball damage is super important, so make sure you swap to the ball you are killing as fast as possible. Albeit fire having very bad target swapping, you still have to contribute to killing balls.
IMPORTANT: You can soulshape and blink through the spike balls.
Guardian of the First OnesSingle Target
The Sludgefist encounter without the damage amplification. It's a pretty straight forward fight. You always want to use alter for the purging protocls and use blinks to get around and charge the cores.
IMPORTANT: Defensively you have a good skill set for this boss. Always use alter time BEFORE any purging protocol hits. It is better to try and greed alter time a bit, since the first cast of protocol deals the least damage you want to avoid big personals on that hit. Therefore ideally, you just face tank the first hit with barrier and mirror images. Mirror images will continue to grant DR for the next 2 hits as well, and then you can rotate alter time and ice block for the bigger hits.
Fatescribe Roh-KaloSingle Target / Adds
Make sure to wait with combustion until you know you don't have to help with runes. If you are assigned to do a rune then obviously do the mechanic first and then combust. There are not that many mechanics in this fight but nearly every mechanic requires heavy movement and will mess you over if you are in your burst windows, so pay attention to Big-wigs/DBM timers.
IMPORTANT: Save alter time until you get the circle, in which case you blink out with the circle and alter back. You can ice block the big bomb and it will not do any damage to the group and it will not spawn a bomb either, so make use of this in tough situations.
Kel'ThuzadSingle Target / Cleave
Fire is really good for bursting the remnant, unlimited movement during combustion allows you to safely deal your damage fully to the remnant, which not many classes can do. Save soulshape for the howling blizzard. The gap can spawn very far away and double-blinking would leave you with nothing to return to the boss.
Fire is also really good outside, and ideally should be outside since fire mage damage will be nearly 0 after combustion inside the portal, whereas other classes handle movement much better.
Sylvanas WindrunnerSingle Target / Cleave
In P1 you want to use combust on pull despite having firestarter, this is because you get another combust in the firestarter window anyway if you keep spamming fireballs and pyros. Then depending on boss health ideally u want to use the second combust just when firestarter ends.
As for the arrows in P1, if you have a lot of boomkins then you should never target the arrows as they just die to the boomies starfall. If you lack arrow damage you obviously have to hit them.
In P2, make sure you have combustion up every time you can hit Sylvanas. You can use combustion on the first boss burn, then the 2nd add wave, then boss again.
IMPORTANT: Make sure to not overdo AoE-ing because you still need to farm combustions. Goes for P1 and P2. You can go pyro-maniac because in theory it's the only DPS increase for P3. However, the DPS increase is so minor and the proc can be munched super easily which ends up devaluing the talent a lot. Also having firestarter for P1 is more impactful as P1 is definitely a hard phase.
Huntsman AltimorSingle Target / Cleave
Despite being mostly 2 targets with some cleave you shouldn’t use flamestrike unless you have combustion up when you are going to kill the shades and have 4 total targets to hit.
Huntsman takes 100% more damage when he’s alone, this means that you can parse higher if you save combustion till after Hecutis (3rd dog) dies and do insane amounts of damage.
Sun King's SalvationCleave
Start by using a Flamestrike combustion on the starting mobs.
Once healers have healed enough to phase the boss, there will be occasional shields that require damage, and you need to make sure you have combustion up for the shields. I recommend that you start combustion 3 seconds before the shield, so that you have built up ignite and infernal cascade stacks.
After phasing the boss you want to spam flamestrike because there will be many adds present.
You can use mirror images before clicking the pedestals to reduce the damage you take, however it will dissipate after the third hit.
Artificer Xy'moxSingle Target
Hungering DestroyerSingle Target
Alter time is really good on this fight because its really good to counter the expunge mechanic. The way you do that is that you use alter time whilst you are stacked with your group, then you blink out to safety with the circle, once the circle is popped you can snap back with alter time, losing 0 uptime.
Also Alter time and blink is insane for countering the consume mechanic. When the boss consumes he drags the whole raid towards him, and you can basically keep DPS’ing the boss whilst being dragged and alter time last second to move out. You can also use combustion whilst being dragged, because you can just keep moving backwards during combustion.
On pull make sure you don't walk to your marker, there is virtually no need to do this, keep out of the group until combustion is over, however stand in a smart place such as between the markers, because that way you will have to move less if you get the beam.
Lady Inerva DarkveinSingle Target / Cleave
Nothing special to really add here, focus on the boss and use Combustion when the adds spawn.
It’s really important you keep spamming fireball and maximize movement, that is because any delay on combustion is vital for your DPS due to the add spawns being on a 1 minute interval precisely.
The Council of BloodSingle Target
Don't bother with Ignite spreading and cleaving here as the health of the bosses reset. Just focus on your assigned target.
IMPORTANT: If you are assigned to interrupt you cannot use Counterspell to proc Disciplinary command, you can use shimmer to proc it off-global or use another arcane spell if you want to keep shimmer.
A single target fight. Make sure your second Combustion aligns with the boss's damage amplification (Destructive Impact). This is done via firestarter, and around at least 700 Haste and 300 crit. It does depend a lot on how much damage your group does on the pull, because the more your group does the more stats you need because the boss will be pushed below the firestarter threshold pretty quickly. Alternatively ask for Power Infusion from your priests and you will never have to worry about not having combustion on the first pillar.
The optimal trinkets for this fight are Empyrial Ordnance and Badge. Make sure you use Ordnance 20 seconds before you want to use badge to get the double on use uptime on the boss's exposed phases. Alternatively Soul Igniter aligns with every pillar as well and is really strong.
IMPORTANT: Proc disciplinary 6 seconds pre-pull, this is done via Blazing barrier, Frost nova and Arcane explosion. The reason is that you can use Disciplinary command again at 24 seconds, then again on 54 seconds which is 3 seconds before the pillar. If you don’t proc it pre-pull you cannot use it again before the first pillar as it wont line up.
Use intellect potion on 4th pillar as that's when you will bloodlust and thus do the most damage.
Stone Legion GeneralsCleave
Mirror images are good on this fight because the bleed doesn’t count as a direct hit, and therefore you can use this when soaking / getting hit by the blade.
Save blink + mobility until the soaks happen, especially if you are assigned as a backup soaker like I am.
Keep hitting the boss after you have dealt with the commandos, despite them taking 99% reduced damage, you can still reduce the combustion cooldown.
You can walk with the melee and use arcane explosion during the seismic upheaval to maximize damage, alternatively you can scorch low health targets if present or just scorch for damage.
IMPORTANT: When the goliath is low on health you become immune to healing, however, Alter time still works.
Sire DenathriusSingle Target / Cleave
When you use Combustion during Phase 1, you want to time your Shifting Power to damage the adds. This happens 9-10 seconds into the first phase. Basically you just want to do your single target rotation on pull with combustion and then swap to shifting after 9 seconds.
During Phase 2 you should focus on the add you're assigned to (on Mythic) or the boss if you are not assigned to any adds. Use Alter Time/Mirror images to prevent damage from Impale and use shimmer to dodge the swirlies. It’s really important you don't just flamestrike pad because you wont have combustion aligned with the cabalist spawns. You want to single target combustion regardless and then cleave onto the cabalists with phoenix flames. Yes flamestrike combustion is more damage on 4 targets but you might struggle with boss damage if you do that.
IMPORTANT: Keep hitting Remornia, this is because of the korayn soulbind trait “Wild hunt tactics”. Remornia and Sire are linked, all damage done to one counts towards the shared health pool and you do 10% more damage on Remornia.
During Phase 3 you can use Alter Time to offset the knock-back. If you are playing melee realm use combustion instantly, typically you lust 1 minute in which lines up with combustion.
IMPORTANT: You can go to 0 stack in phase 1 and use combustion in the intermission without needing to go in. You don't need to move at all when you have 0 stacks. You do need to save combustion for it, it happens at 2.45, so ideally you should combust at pull, 1 minute in, then 2.45.
